Golf:
The Algarve is well known as a golfers paradise and Vila Margarida makes a great base for a golfing holiday, whether all members of the group are playing or some go off to play whilst the others relax by the pool or play tennis.
There are many excellent courses within a 25 minute drive including Palmares, Penina, Parque da Floresta and the closest , Boavista is only 5 minutes drive from the villa.
Lagos:
The beautiful town of Lagos, described by many as the loveliest town on the Algarve with its old Roman walls and narrow windy streets, is a short 10 minute drive away. It has many excellent beaches, a lovely marina and fishing port and great shopping and bars, restaurants and nightclubs. Mant boat trips run from here including dolphin watching and grotto visits. There are also deep sea fishing excursions available. There are lots of lovely pavement cafes and also entertainers and craftsmen selling their wares. At night it has a wonderful atmosphere and the streets are packed with locals and tourists out for a stroll and watching the entertainers.
Other Nearby Attractions:
As well as all that Praia da Luz has to offer there are many other nearby activities for those who hire a car or who travel around by taxi or public transport.
There are 2 water slide parks within a 25 minute drive, a marine wildlife park, a large modern shopping centre and a small zoo.
The West coast beaches are huge and really beautiful, with large breakers in most weathers. They are ideal for surfing and several have surf schools and board hire. The closest are about 20 minutes drive. Also to the West is the nautical town of Sagres with some lovely sea-food restaurants and the most South -Westerly point in Europe, Cape St Vincent with its high cliffs, fort and lighthouse..
The ancient Algarve capital of Silves is a 30 minute drive to the East and has a lovely old castle and a restored cork factory which is now a museum. The grounds hold restaurants and in the summer there is often entertainment in the grounds in the evening (look for local adverts)
