Vila Margarida is a luxury private villa rental in Praia da Luz on the lovely Algarve coast of Portugal. It is one of the best villas in the lovely small town resort, boasting great views, lovely private heated swimming pool and tennis court set in a beautiful established garden of an acre which gives a high degree of privacy. Add all this to the fact that Vila Margarida is very centrally located and only 8 minutes walk to the beach and less to many bars, restaurants and shops and you will see that this villa offers the best of both worlds, a central location and amazing privacy and facilities. The villa has 4 bedrooms, 2 double and 2 twin all on the ground floor, 3 opening onto the pool terrace. There are 3 bath/shower rooms. The lounge, dining room and kitchen are on the first floor and the large first floor terrace has wonderful views to the sea and cliffs overlooking Luz Bay. Beside the pool is a cabana area with bar, BBQ, outdoor kitchen and dining area. Real poolside luxury!

Praia da Luz is a lovely seaside resort on the sunny Algarve coast, just 10 minutes drive from the larger town of Lagos. Praia da Luz has a lovely sandy beach which is gently shelving & great for families. It is backed by a car free, palm tree lined promenade which has several bars, cafes & shops. Great for a snack lunch or tea & those beach essentials!!! There is a water sports facility on the beach with pedalos, windsurfers, small dingy’s to hire as well as waterskiing & towed inflatable rides. There is also beach volleyball & some children’s swings. Praia da Luz also offers a wide range of restaurants & bars. The restaurants range from the beach bars and cafes, through small bistro type restaurants to fine dining. All are family friendly. The bars again welcome families & some run quiz nights & karaoke nights on a regular basis which can be great fun. There are several bars which show UK sports. All of these plus internet cafe, supermarket, chemist are within 8 min walk.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Winter rates are variable depending on occupancy and duration of stay. The basic price of £300/week is based on 2 people staying at Vila Margarida. Each additional person will be charged at an additional £50/person/week. For stays of 3 weeks or more in the winter season we can usually offer a significant discount so please contact us for an individual quote.
    Our change over day is Thursday, but we can often alter this for winter bookings or last minute bookings where possible. Please ask.
    Our booking terms are 25% non-refundable deposit at booking with the balance payable 8 weeks before the start of your holiday.
    We can accept payment by cheque or bank transfer in GB pounds, US dollars or Euros. We can also accept payment by credit card via paypal, but will charge an additional 4% on bookings paid for in this way.
    A £300 security deposit is required from all groups.
  • The above rates do not include pool heating which is available at the additional cost of £100/week. If you opt to have the pool heated and it is not heated the week preceding your stay you may also wish to have the pool pre-heated for your arrival. A pool pre-heat is charged at £60.
    Broadband access is also available at Vila Margarida at the additional cost of £30/week. If you would like to use the wireless broadband access you will also be required to pay a higher security deposit of £700 which will also make the phone available to you for all outgoing calls and you would have calls made deducted from that security deposit.

  • All the bathrooms at Vila Margarida were completely modernised over the winter of 2005/6.

  • All the bedrooms at Vila Margarida are on the ground floor. Three ,one double and both twins have French doors opening onto the pool terrace. The other double has a large picture window looking out to the orchard area. There is ample wardrobe space and shelving. Both double bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and the other 2 bedrooms share a family shower room which like all the bedrooms is located off the hallway.

Notes: There is regular maid service 2-3 times per week and weekly linen change. Towels are provided for villa use, but guests are asked to bring their own towels for poolside and beach use. Vila Margarida has electric heaters in all rooms and a log burning fire in the lounge and is therefore a lovely destination for a winter holiday too! There are several dining areas at Vila Margarida. There is an indoor dining room with circular table for 8, two dining tables on the first floor terrace, one under cover for shade if very warm and the other open to the sun. There is also a lovely poolside dining area under the cabana which stays beautifully cool and is a lovely place for lunch or a BBQ.

Golf: The Algarve is well known as a golfers paradise and Vila Margarida makes a great base for a golfing holiday, whether all members of the group are playing or some go off to play whilst the others relax by the pool or play tennis. There are many excellent courses within a 25 minute drive including Palmares, Penina, Parque da Floresta and the closest , Boavista is only 5 minutes drive from the villa.

Lagos: The beautiful town of Lagos, described by many as the loveliest town on the Algarve with its old Roman walls and narrow windy streets, is a short 10 minute drive away. It has many excellent beaches, a lovely marina and fishing port and great shopping and bars, restaurants and nightclubs. Mant boat trips run from here including dolphin watching and grotto visits. There are also deep sea fishing excursions available. There are lots of lovely pavement cafes and also entertainers and craftsmen selling their wares. At night it has a wonderful atmosphere and the streets are packed with locals and tourists out for a stroll and watching the entertainers.

Other Nearby Attractions: As well as all that Praia da Luz has to offer there are many other nearby activities for those who hire a car or who travel around by taxi or public transport. There are 2 water slide parks within a 25 minute drive, a marine wildlife park, a large modern shopping centre and a small zoo. The West coast beaches are huge and really beautiful, with large breakers in most weathers. They are ideal for surfing and several have surf schools and board hire. The closest are about 20 minutes drive. Also to the West is the nautical town of Sagres with some lovely sea-food restaurants and the most South -Westerly point in Europe, Cape St Vincent with its high cliffs, fort and lighthouse.. The ancient Algarve capital of Silves is a 30 minute drive to the East and has a lovely old castle and a restored cork factory which is now a museum. The grounds hold restaurants and in the summer there is often entertainment in the grounds in the evening (look for local adverts)
