Main shopping town
The nearest shopping town to Vale da Lama is Lagos, a very picturesque town with its narrow cobbled streets & attractive main avenue. Lagos was an important seaport town in the 16th Century and still is an important fishing & tourist centre. There are lots of beaches with fine golden sand & a boat trip to the grottoes is a must. There is a new Marina with shops, restaurants & cafes not far from the town centre, there is plenty of nightlife with open air concerts & exhibitions.

Golf is very popular in the Algarve and there are 5 well-known golf courses in the Lagos area. Palmares golf course is the nearest to Vale da Lama, five minutes by car, then going west to Boa Vista & Parque da Floresta, approximately three quarters of an hour by car. Towards the east side, there are the Penina & Alto golf courses, approximately 20 minutes by car.
