Make holiday rental accommodation or a villa in Lagos, Portugal your home away from home
Lagos in the Algarve, Portugal, was capital of the Algarve for 200 years, and was vital in maintaining Portugal’s naval dominance. However, now its most celebrated attributes are the beaches; some of the best beaches in the Algarve, including the fabulous Praia de Dona Ana. Many of the Lagos holiday villas are within a very short walk from the coast, and there is a huge amount of choice for self catering villa rental in Lagos. As with many seaside resorts on the Algarve, taking a holiday villa, especially a villa with a pool gives you the flexibility, privacy and space to get the most out of a relaxing Lagos holiday.
Things to do in Lagos Portugal
No matter what your preference in beach, if you prefer long and sweeping beaches or small idyllic beaches hidden between rocky outlets, the Lagos area of the Algarve will not disappoint. At Meia Praia (the most prestigious area of Lagos) and Sae Roque, the sand, sea and sky create an endless boarder to the land, but beaches like Estudantes, Homers and Dona Ana are perfectly secluded, almost private holiday spots. Choice of villa in Lagos is important from this perspective, but there are many beaches in reach of most of the rental villas, as well as plenty of culture and leisure options, including extensive watersports.
Lagos’ coastline is rocky and intriguing. There are many caves and rocks to explore, and the water is almost transparent, making it an ideal destination for scuba divers.
If you require more activity on holiday than a week sunbathing on the fine golden beaches of Lagos, the renowned Boavista Golf Resort, and the demanding Palmares golf course are within easy reach of all of the self catering Lagos accommodation available.
Due to the wealth of history in the Algarve, there is a huge amount of culture to soak in. The 12th Century ‘gold’ church of Santo Antonio, and the numerous buildings dating back to 1445 are must see attractions if you are staying in a Lagos holiday villa for any length of time.
