Alvor holiday apartment: Alvôr

Our family of 4 stayed here in July 2009 and we had a superb holiday.
The apartment is very well furnished and decorated, the beds are comfortable and there was a big flat screen tv which was an added bonus for the children.
The 'Vila da Praia' complex is very clean, well looked after and the pools are great for young and old. Another plus is the secure fencing and security entry system which will give parents of young children peace of mind.
The location of the apartment could not be bettered, 5 mins to the lovely sandy Alvor beach and about the same distance to the town with its lovely bars and restaurants. I cannot think of a bad meal experience we had whilst in Alvor and a must is the Buganvilia restaurant recommended by Lena and Gil. This restaurant was very friendly and was very popular with Portugese families a very good recommendation in its self.
Lena and Gil provided everything you could need and even went out of their way to provide things that you wanted. In an email before we left I asked the question if it was possible to bbq on the complex, they replied saying it was'nt allowed but when we arrived they had sourced a small portable bbq for us to use on the fantastic balcony!.
I thoroughly recommend this apartment in this fab complex in this gorgeous resort....... we will be back!!

My parents, my 10 year old son and I stayed at apartment Sofia in August 2009 and had a wonderful holiday! Unfortunately we were only there for a week - and that is my best advice - stay longer!!

The apartment is really as good as the other reviewers say; beautifully decorated, sparkling clean and very well looked after. The Vila de Praia "village" of apartments is a huge asset to the apartment itself - well looked after, nice and private and the pools are wonderful.

Alvor itself has spread from the old fishing town along the coast and the restaurants along the promenade are pricey, but up the hill towards the square, they're very reasonably priced and the trick is to share dishes because portions can be huge! We had a lovely meal for 4 including starters, mains, wine and soft drinks and 2 puddings for £50 and were very well looked after. The promenade, old town and beach are only 10 minutes walk in any direction so the location of this apartment is superb.

Then there's Zoomarine, Slide & Splash, Lagos and Portimao to see so you really do need a fortnight! This is a great place to chill out but with plenty to keep all ages amused. Marie Helena and Gil couldn't have been more helpful - booking taxis from the airport for us, showing us the supermarkets and introducing us to the lovely Bouganvillia restaurant which is great.

Don't miss this, it's a great package, highly recommended (and I am not that easy to please!).

The apartment was tastefully decorated with high quality furnishings. The owners had put a lot of effort into the decor, it was a pleasure to stay in. We received excellent customer service. I noticed that a previous client had suggested sunbeds on the balcony would be a good idea and the owners had gone and done just that. The owners had given attention to detail, i.e presentation, and that they wanted their guests to have a comfortable stay. So many just want the rental funds. Our favourite restaurant has to be ‘Restinga’ situated on the far right as you walk to the beach. It has the most wonderful fresh fish, don’t ask for a menu, simply ask what they have. If you don't eat fish they have the best 'Steak Portugese'. The beach is lovely and the sea is beautifully clear, the waves are great fun but some days it is like a mill pond.
If I have to be negative: slightly over cluttered with furniture and I needed more pillows for a comfortable night.
