'Casa dos Amigos' is a first floor apartment on the beautifully landscaped Sao Rafael complex. It has one double and one twin bedroom, an open-plan lounge/dining area with open fire and patio doors leading to the balcony with lovely sea views, kitchen, bathroom with bath/shower, basin, WC and bidet. It is equipped with Satellite TV (English BBC, ITV, etc), DVD player, CD player, microwave, fridge, cooker, toaster, kettle, all cutlery and crockery, hairdryer, fans, etc. All bed linen, tea-towels and bathroom towels are provided. It can sleep up to 6 people (sofa-bed in lounge). Electricity, gas and water. Maid service (normally 2 days per week) can be provided. Beach towels are not provided. Our apartment is privately owned and run and is not part of any large holiday organisation. Children are very welcome. Pets/animals are not permitted. It is only a few minutes stroll from the un-spoilt coves of Sao Rafael with its beautiful sandy beaches (European Blue Flag) and cliff top walks

Sao Rafael is a prestigious, 'open-plan' complex of low rise apartments and villas in a beautiful setting, in well-maintained, landscaped gardens, occupying one of the most sought after locations in the Algarve, overlooking the sea. It offers a peaceful, non-stressful holiday location. Our apartment is only a few minutes stroll from the un-spoilt coves of Sao Rafael with its sandy beaches (European Blue Flag), cliff top walks and popular beach bars/restaurants. Sao Rafael is 40 kms from Faro Airport - approx 30 mins by car. It is 3 kms from the centre of Albufeira which rightly claims to be the original tourist capital of the region. Nearby restaurants are too numerous to mention here but many in walking distance, seafood is in abundance but all tastes are catered for. Guia and Zoomarine (where you can swim with the dolphins) are a short drive away. Algarve Shopping Mall and Cinema Complex is very near. Albufeira Marina is within walking distance where boat trips are available.

Whilst we normally stick to a Wednesday/Thursday changeover day, other days may be considered to fit in with existing lets. Short 3 day lets are possible and long term lets will always be considered. A discount will be available for lets longer than 2 weeks. Generally the apartment will need to be vacated by 11.00 am on the day of departure but if you have a late flight then consideration will be given to you staying in the apartment a bit longer dependant upon whether or not anyone else is arriving that day. Please don't hesitate to ask.

Notes to the rental rates

  • Prices in £ sterling are per week based on 4 persons sharing. Each extra person will be an additional £50 per person per week. We are very happy to accept payment by Sterling or Euro Cheuqes or by Bank Transfer to a UK or a Portuguese bank account. Bank details to be provided at a later date.
    A 25% deposit is required within 7 days of booking, the final balance being due six weeks before the commencement date of your holiday. A 'Security Deposit' of £100 cheque is required for each booking at the time of payment of the balance. This will be returned by cheque, by post, following a successful inspection after completion of your holiday.
  • The apartment is available from 3.00 pm on the first day of your booking and must be vacated by 11.00 am on the last day. It may be possible to extend this dependent upon other bookings.
  • The rates for long term lets will be negotiable but a let for a longer period than 2 weeks in total will qualify for a discount.

  • The bathroom has been partly refurbished with new tiles, mirror, lights, bath and shower. The hot water is provided by a condensing boiler so should never run out. There is no hot water tank to heat up. There is a built in extractor fan which comes on when the light is turned on and a wall heater which may be used in the winter months.

  • 1 large double bedroom with a high ceiling, built in wardrobes and a lovely 5 foot king size bed. This room has double doors opening onto a small balcony and a wonderful sea view. The twin room also has built in wardrobes, with the safe inside, and has two 3 foot single beds, also with double doors opening onto a small balcony but this overlooks part of our beautifully landscaped gardens, 1 double sofa bed which sleeps 2 people (very comfortable) and is quick and easy to make up, in the lounge area. 1 baby cot available upon request - linen for the cot not provided

Notes:

The apartment was re-decorated and partially refurbished in 2005 and 2006. Numerous satellite channels are available including all BBC and ITV channels and we also have a DVD player. We have a small selection of CD's and DVD's, games, books, etc. The main balcony is large and has a table with four reclining chairs and four standard chairs, perfect for dining or just sitting. The views from both the lounge/main balcony and the double bedroom balcony are beautiful. Both bedrooms have patio doors and a small balcony with wooden shutters. The two beautiful Sao Rafael beaches are just a short stroll from the apartment. Sun beds are available on both beaches in the summer. Each beach has its own bar/restaurant serving meals, snacks and drinks throughout the day and evening. There are numerous excellent restaurants nearby - many within walking distance - offering a superb choice of dining. There are also a number of nearby restaurants who also serve food to take away.

Car Hire & Taxis

Whilst car hire is not essential, it can be arranged by yourself or on your behalf through our personal representative in the Algarve. We will give you the email address of our friend who looks after our apartment in Sao Rafael who works closely with an excellent car hire company who offer very competitive rates . She is also able to pre-book your taxi to and from the airport should you choose not to hire a car for the full duration of your holiday. The Algarve is a truly beautiful area and the use of a car will further allow you complete freedom to explore and enjoy both inland and coastal areas. The office at Sao Rafael are normally happy to book taxis for the cost of a phone call. You will find that they are very reasonably priced. It is sometimes cheaper to hire a car for the duration of your holiday, rather than hire taxis throughout, even though you may only use it to transport your party to and from the airport. the choice, however, is yours.

Sao Rafael Complex & Apartment

There is a staffed complex office within Apartment No 77. Swimming pool tokens are available for our guests at this office. The girls in the office are also able and happy to assist with the booking of taxis as mentioned previously, restaurant reservations, general enquiries about excursions, lost property, etc. Any questions regarding our apartment are dealt with locally and we will give you a local telephone number to use at the time of booking. We can usually also be contacted back in England. It would be helpful if you could give us a telephone number at the time of booking, which you will use whilst in Portugal so you can be contacted at all times.

Golf Information:

The Algarve is one of Europe's premier golf areas boasting over 300 days of sunny weather - all year round.. There are currently over 25 golf courses in the space of 100 miles of coastline, all within one and a half hours' drive of Faro International Airport, with some in very close proximity to Sao Rafael. Salgados, a challenging links course and the nearest course to the apartment, is five minutes drive. Others range from the Palmares to the Pine Cliffs to Benamor, all characterised by the favourable weather conditions and the immaculately manicured fairways and greens, each course in the Algarve adds to the beauty of the Algarve being Portugal's premier golf region.
