This large and modern apartment is situated in a peaceful residential area within walking distance of the beautiful town of Tavira. Being located on the third floor with elevator access, the most spectacular views can be enjoyed from all aspects of the apartment. All rooms are spacious, bright and airy. There are 3 twin bedrooms (1 ensuite) to accommodate 6 people. The kitchen is very well equipped with modern appliances and has an outdoor dining balcony ideal for taking breakfast in the fresh air. The lounge is large with a dining area and comfortable seating with Freeview TV channels. There is also a large balcony suitable for relaxing or dining - but the most wonderful feature of this apartment is the superb private rooftop terrace which has a traditional brick BBQ, dining furniture, sun loungers and an amazing panoramic view of the surrounding countryside and villages.

From the apartment, the town of Tavira can be reached on foot by leaving Fonte Salgada and passing through the suburb of Porta Nova then onto Tavira (around 15 minutes in all) and you will not fail to be enthralled by it's unspoilt charm, character and tranquillity. As you wander along the cobbled streets, you'll see an abundance of history. A Roman bridge links the 2 parts of the town across the River Gilao, its sides decorated with traditional old bars and restaurants, there are many churches (37 in total!) to view, along with the town castle, several monuments and the typical fisherman's harbour leading to the River Formosa Natural Park. There is an excellent daily market selling fresh home grown produce, and the local beach Island is accessible by small ferry boat boasting excellent facilities and a wonderful holiday atmosphere. Horse drawn carriages and a small train operate around the town and are perfect for seeing all the sights and experiencing the peaceful ambience

  • Indicated rates are for 2 people sharing.Exrta persons can be accommodated to a maximum of 6 people at a charge of 50E per person per week. Travel cots are available at 20 Euros per week and 12.50 Euros for subsequent weeks. Payment is preferred in the specified currency. We may have to charge you for any bank fees incurred should the payment be made in a different currency
  • A 20% deposit is required to secure the reservation with the balance payable 8 weeks prior to arrival. A refundable house deposit will also be required.
  • All charges include cleaning before arrival, cleaning and change of linen once per week and cleaning after departure. All linen and towels are provided.

Given its 3rd storey location, we are clear to say that parents should carefully consider the safety of their children - whilst the balconies do have railings, they may not be considered entirely secure should children be allowed to climb upon them. We are of the opinion that this accommodation is not appropriate for children between 2 and 10 years of age. Please contact us to discuss this further. There is safe on street parking outside the apartment block, and also an underground communal garage.Nearest shop is 5 minutes walk away

Local Beach: Ilha de Tavira (Tavira Island)

The Algarve is famous for its wonderful sandy beaches and the beach of Tavira Island is no exception. As a naturally formed island separated from the mainland by the River Formosa, it is reached by catching a small and inexpensive water ferry from a designated point in the small harbour. A good range of facilities is offered including snack bars, sun beds for hire and a wonderful holiday atmosphere amongst golden sands and the rolling Atlantic Ocean. There are a number of other beaches in close proximity and all worth a visit! Praia Verde, Manta Rota, Altura and Cabanas are within a 20km radius.

Activities & Things To Do

Tavira itself is primarly a town for sight-seeing, dining and relaxing, however, by travelling a little further afield there are a good range of things to do to suit all tastes. For nature lovers there are forest walks, cruises along the River Guadiana or nature trails along the Ria Formosa Reserve where bird watching is in abundance! By travelling towards the West there are some excellent shopping centres in Faro and Ghia as well as the famous Water Parks and Zoo Marine (wonderful for children), all easily reached by car (around 45 minutes) or by day trip coach. The Spanish border town of Ayamonte is a mere 10kms away where the delights of another country can be sampled along with wine, Tapas and shopping and can be reached by bus, train, ferry or car. Seville is around 150km. For budding historians, as well as Tavira, Castro Marim Castle is a must. GOLF is also a key feature of this locality with 7 courses withn a 20km radius. GOLF

This is perfect accommodation for golfers wishing to sample the excellent courses situated in the Eastern Algarve. Within a 20km radius there are 7 courses to choose from. Benamor and the 2 Quintas (Ria and Cima) are the most popular and can be reached within several minutes. The prestigious new course of Monte Rei designed by Jack Nicklaus now has its first 18 holes open and is continuing in its development to the second phase offering the height of golfing luxury - although a costly experience, this is a real treat for golfing fanatics wishing to experience a little high life! Travelling only 10kms further on towards Spain, the challenging course of Castro Marim, along with its famous country club comes highly recommended and just across the border are the Costa Esuri and Quinta do Vale courses now growing in popularity. We can organise a full golfing package with 1 price per head with play at a selection of these courses, car hire and rental of this apartment. (Flights not included)
