Review of our holiday apartment in December 2010
Review Submitted: December 28, 2010

We really enjoyed our stay at Trevor and Geoginas apartment in Cabanas.
The apartment was well situated, on the edge of cabanas, near the the sea front, and a short distance to country walks. It was well equiped with a full-size kitchen, two good bedrooms, and a sunny balcony. We did miss a television though, and another comfortable chair in the living room would be nice.
Cabanas has narrow streets and small shops, and is authenticly Portugese. There is a supermarket, and a good selection of bars and resturants. The new development is mainly to the west, well away from the apartment. As perhaps could be expected, Cabanas ( and the Algarve) was extreemly quiet in December, with locals outnumbering tourists, a situation we were happy with, but might not suit all.
For people without transport, Cabanas is ideal, with inexpensive trains to Tavira, Faro, and the Spanish border, with the station 20 minutes away. There are also buses to Tavira from a nearby stop.
We didnt go to the beach, ferries didnt apear to be opperating in the winter- but there were lots of walks that more than compensated for this. Bird watching was excellent!
To sum up, the apartment is ideal for those that enjoy walking, self catering, and experiencing the "real" Algarve.

Owner's Response: Thank-you for your review Martin. We will have to think again about the TV and extra armchair question! I suppose this is more important in the winter.
The local ferry to the outer beach doesn't run between November and March. I'm uncertain whether the 'Golden Club' ferry at the other end of the beach is still available in the winter as it used to be but will investigate this next time I'm there.
I'm glad the bird-watching went well - Cabanas is pretty good for this, perhaps especially in the winter.
