Casa Rolla is situated in the peaceful, rural surroundings of Estorninhos village near Tavira and can accommodate up to 5 people in comfort. You really will be transported back in time as you travel along the original roads still used by farmers today, and awake to the spectacular, unspoilt mountain scenery and fresh country air. By day, you can laze around the pool and take in the fabulous countryside views. By night, enjoy a barbecue whilst watching the glorious Algarve sunset, or pop out for a peaceful drink close by. Located on the ground floor of a villa, the accommodation is simple, but clean and tidy. Whilst the owner lives on the upper floor, the apartment has its own extensive private terraces and pool area, and exclusive use of the pool and BBQ. This a perfect property for families or 2 couples seeking a relaxing break.

Estorninhos is a charming rural village situated in the hills of Tavira and is reached by travelling from the EN125 main road up through the National Forest Area for around 15kms. In this village you will be transported back to a time when life was calm and unhurried and you will sample a piece of the 'real' Algarve where there is an enchanting mixture of past and present. Farmers walking their sheep and tending the fields is still a common site to this day! There are very few amenities in Estorninhos; a simple café bar and restaurant where you can enjoy typical Portuguese food, and a small shop selling a limited range of essential items only. There is very little else - other than the wonderful views and peacefulness - so visitors should be prepared for that! The nearest towns for main grocery shopping and a greater choice of amenities are Tavira and Vila Nova de Cacela. From Estorninhos, the apartment is around 1km away and is reached by country lanes. Car is essential.

  • Rates are for up to 5 persons. Travel cots are available at 20 Euros per week and 12.50 Euros for subsequent weeks.A 20% deposit is required to secure the reservation with the balance payable 8 weeks prior to arrival. A refundable house deposit will also be required.
  • Payment is preferred in the specified currency. We may have to charge you for any bank fees incurred should the payment be made in a different currency.
  • All charges include cleaning before arrival, cleaning and change of linen once per week and cleaning after departure. All linen and towels are provided. Changeover days are flexible. Normal check in time is 4pm and checkout 10am. These times will only be applied if absolutely necessary and we will accommodate arrival and departure as fully as possible. Villa care company available throughout stay for assistance if required. Linen change and cleaning weekly.

Notes: This property is a two storey building, with the first floor apartment being where the owners live. The rented apartment is the on ground level with private entrance to ensure complete privacy, a large patio area, B B Q and swimming Pool. Please note that the owners have two very very friendly dogs. However, the dogs are not allowed to roam into the letting apartment and should not cause any disturbance. THE BEAUTIFUL TOWN OF TAVIRA : When staying in this accommodation a visit to the beautiful town of Tavira is essential! You will not fail to be enthralled by its unspoilt charm, character and tranquility. As you wander along the cobbled streets, you'll see an abundance of history dating as far back as 2000BC. A Roman bridge links the 2 parts of the town across the River Gilao, its sides decorated with traditional old bars and restaurants where you can relax and enjoy a peaceful drink or meal. Horse drawn carriages and a small train operate around the town and are perfect for sightseeing and enjoying the peaceful ambience. The many churches (37 in total!), the town castle and the typical fisherman's harbour leading to the River Formosa Natural Park are all places to visit, along with the wonderful daily market selling fresh home grown produce. Tavira Island and its wonderful beach is accessible by ferry boat from the town and offers excellent facilities with a wonderful holiday atmosphere.

LOCAL BEACHES: The Algarve is famous for its wonderful sandy shores. There are an abundance of excellent clean beaches close to the apartment. We have 2 recommendations: Manta Rota is approximately 15 kms away towards to East, and here you will find golden sands, rolling sea, sunbeds for hire, several snack bars and plenty of walking space! But for a special beach experience, we can highly recommend Tavira Island (‘Ilha de Tavira’). This beach island is reached by small ferry boat from the town harbour in Tavira and travels very regularly during the peak seasons. Upon reaching the Island, there is a short walk to the main beach area which has a wide choice of bars and restaurants serving food and refreshments until late in the evening - so a full day can really be enjoyed!

THINGS TO SEE AND DO: For nature lovers, forest walks, cruises along the River Guadiana or nature trails along the Ria Formosa Reserve where bird watching is in abundance! Travelling West there are some excellent shopping centres in Faro and Ghia as well as the famous Water Parks and Zoo Marine all easily reached by car or by day trip coach. The Spanish border town of Ayamonte is approx 25 kms by car, where the delights of another country can be sampled along with wine, Tapas and shopping. Ayamonte can also be reached by ferry from Vila Real. Seville is about 170km away, and budding historians may enjoy Castro Marim castle.

Golf: This is perfect accommodation for golfers wishing to sample the excellent courses situated in the Eastern Algarve. Within a 20km radius there are 7 courses to choose from. Benamor and the 2 Quintas (Ria and Cima) are the most popular and can be reached within several minutes. The prestigious new course of Monte Rei designed by Jack Nicklaus now has its first 18 holes open and is continuing in its development to the second phase offering the height of golfing luxury - although a costly experience, this is a real treat for golfing fanatics wishing to experience a little high life! Travelling only 10kms further on towards Spain, the challenging course of Castro Marim, along with its famous country club comes highly recommended and just across the border are the Costa Esuri and Quinta do Vale courses now growing in popularity. We can organise a full golfing package with 1 price per head with play at a selection of these courses, car hire and rental of this apartment. (Flights not included)
