Casa Do Forno is a beautiful Algarvian cottage with its own private sun baked terrace and garden. The terrace is conveniently accessed through patio doors off the living area and has a table and chairs for outside dinning . For the sun lovers the garden has loungers, a perfect place to catch those rays. The views are quite spectacular across the open countryside to the sea and islands beyond. My favourite time is relaxing on the well lit terrace in the evening with a glass of wine, cooking on the BBQ and looking out to the lights on the front at Olhao. The cottage has been tastefully decorated and furnished for comfort with a leather sofa and chair. There is satellite TV with English programmes and music stations. We have 2 separate bedrooms, one with a king size bed and the other with bunk beds. Although the cottage is in the countryside it is easy walking distance to 2 restaurants and a bar, and the village of Pechao is only 1km away with bank, pharmacy, mini market, shops etc.

The house is located in the countryside 1km outside the village of Pechao . The village has shops, bars restaurants pharmacy and a minimarket. Olhao, the working fishing town, is 2km away with foot passanger ferry over to the beautiful islands of Armona and Farol. The beaches on these Islands are exquisit and quiet even in August! 5km further inland is Estoi with renovated old palace, roman ruins and other places of interest. This part of the Algarve is away from the busy tourist areas and retains the true character of the Algarve. Despite this 5 star golf, waterslide parks and swimming with dolphins are all within a 40minute drive

Additional information about rental rates

  • We are completely flexible on changeover days. The cottage is ready for occupancy at 3pm and must be vacated by 10 am (often these times can be negotiated but this must be discussed with Kate the owner in advance). 25% deposit is payable at the time of booking with the balance due 12 weeks before your holiday. We are happy to accept payment of the equivalent amount in Euros. Payment is made by cheque or on line through paypal or direct bank transfer.

Notes: The cottage is suitable for elderly or infirm as it is all on one level and the main living space is open plan with access through sliding French doors on to the terrace. On the terrace is a convenient table and chairs so that you can enjoy eating 'al fresco' or simply sit and enjoy the sun looking over the garden and beautiful views of the open countryside, sea and islands beyond. We have a BBQ off the terrace, close to the kitchen area. Convenient off road parking for several cars is at the side of the cottage on the large driveway which is shared with the farmhouse next door. The cottage is close to a road but the gardens and terrace are private and secure from this road being about 6 feet above road level and separated from the road by a secure fence and thick flowering hedge

Location: Casa Do Forno is situated in the countryside between Olhao and the village of Pechao. You will find the village 1km away with shops, bank, pharmacy etc. Despite being in the countryside you can easily walk to 2 very good Portuguese restaurants serving a variety of traditional Portuguese recipes and of course fresh fish daily. The nearest of these is the famous 'O'Lagar' renowned for the quality of its food. If you prefer just a drink or snack, you can find 2 bars within a few hundred yards. The coast at Olhao is only 3km. This is a working Portuguese fishing town with daily fish markets, meat fruit and veg. There is a more extensive market on a Saturday with clothes etc. From Olhao pier you can take a small passenger ferry just 15min ride across, to the idyllic islands of Armona and Farol with quaint restaurants and miles of deserted beaches. This part of the Algarve retains the true character of Portugal away from the more touristy areas.

Things to do: Being centrally placed 15min from the airport Casa Do Forno is your perfect place to stay whilst exploring the whole of the Algarve. For those of you seeking culture Faro is less than 10kms away with the historic old town, and Estoi is only 5kms away with its Palace and Roman Ruins. Faro is the capital of the Algarve and has all you would expect from a busy European city including a huge new shopping mall with cinema, food hall and designer boutiques. Several championship golf courses are within 30 mins drive and occupants of the cottage can have special rates on most of these (ask Kate for more details). The closest beach is about 3km. We recommend the beaches on the islands off Olhao as the most unspoilt beaches in the Algarve! The Ria Formosa natural park is just up the coast and well worth a visit. Within a 30min drive you will find all the tourist attractions eg. waterslide parks, zoo marine (with swimming with dolphins), casinos, nightclubs etc etc.

Other Activities: Unwinding and enjoying the year round sunshine.

Lovely and peaceful. Great spot for sun in the garden. away from any hustle and bustle. A credit to the owner. Thanks so much for a wonderful holiday.

The cottage was clean and well equipped. The secluded, sunny garden was a delight to barbecue, eat and read in. We found it very easy to reach several glorious local beaches, all of which the children loved. As well as buying groceries from the supermarket in nearby Olhao, We also sampled the food and coffee in a few of the local cafe's and restaurants in Pechao and enjoyed them. Apart from local beaches, our older children also had great fun go-carting in Almancil, shopping in Faro ( forum algarve) and catching the ferry from Olhao to the relaxing island of Armona for the day. The weather was beautiful.
