Quinta da Pedra is a traditional farmhouse renovated in 2000 providing bed and breakfast accommodation. The cottage is detached from the main house by a pebbled, completely private courtyard with overhead grapevines. It is within easy access of Faro Airport and on the edge of an attractive whitewashed hamlet 15 minutes walk or 4 minutes drive from Sao Bras. The Quinta (farmhouse) is in a secluded lane and lies beneath a majestic eucalyptus tree amidst the half acre landscaped garden containing your OWN PRIVATE POOL! with many fruit trees and kindred plants. The cottage comprises of a cosy lounge fully equipped with satellite TV, separate double bedroom with linen and all towels provided and an integral showeroom with toilet and washbasin. Your choice of breakfast is served on the patio providing a panoramic and tranquil view of the garden and magnificent countryside with its diverse birdlife.

Sao Bras is a traditional Portuguese town with shops, cafe bars and restaurants, two of which are within easy walking distance of the cottage. The town is the perfect base for those enjoying walking holidays and visitors have access to the many organised walks available. There is easy access to beaches on the eastern Algarve, including our favourite ones on the Ria Formosa islands, accessible by taking the regular ferry from Olhao following a 30 minutes drive. The River Guadiana, separating Portugal from Spain is also within a 40 minute car journey. A ferry across this river can be taken from Villa Real enabling you to sample the differing cultures. The Sao Bras area is famous for its cork production with the full history of the region on graphic display in the museum a few minutes walk from the town centre. Sao Bras has a covered daily market selling fresh fish, meat, fruit and vegetables. There is also a Saturday market here where you can pick up a good bargain!

Additional information about rental rates

  • A non refundable deposit of 50% of the total price is required to secure your booking with the final balance due 8 weeks prior to your stay. In the case of late bookings a mutual deposit will be discussed, with the balance on arrival. A cheque of £100 is required on arrival and returned to you at the end of the stay provided there are no breakages or damage to the cottage. Although the quinta and cottage are easily found from the airport, should a client wish to be met and led to the accommodation, this is available at a cost of 20 euros.

Eating out: Visitors are spoilt for choice with the easy accessibility of a number of restaurants, which are better value than the more touristy parts of the Algarve. The 'Beira Serra and The Horta' restaurants are within walking distance, whilst for those with 30 minutes to spare, a walk to 'Churrasqueirra Luis' (Chicken Luis) a piri piri meal for two with wine can be obtained for as little as 12 euros. A five minute drive will enable you to sample any number of traditional Portuguese restaurants with excellent cuisine and service. However should your taste buds be more cosmopolitan, there are also British, Belguin and Chinese restaurants for you to sample! To assist in your choice we are continuously finding other places to dine and will share all current culinary information with our guests.

Golf: Since the completion of the east to west motorway in 2000, as many as 17 golf courses are easily accessible from the Sao Bras region, all within a 30 minute drive. These include those in Vilamoura and the Vale do Lobo plus many more less well known in the Eastern Algarve.

August 2006 A perfect holiday, each day started with a superb breakfast followed by a relaxing day by the pool. The cottage is absolutely charming and well equipped. August 2006 Lovely restful location, very peaceful. Sept 2006 We had a most enjoyable stay in you cottage, thanks for all the tips on restaurants and the beaches. We loved the town of Tavira. January 2007. Had a great time in a lovely peaceful location. Sue and Roger are great hosts, extremely friendly and helpful but also unobtrusive. July 2007 Thank you for making our stay in your cottage so enjoyable, I don't know the last time that we had such a relaxing holiday. August 2007 The cottage is a little haven and perfect for a relaxing holiday. Super breakfasts and lovely area to explore. Sept 2007 Had a wonderful holiday, cottage is a romantic hideaway. fantastic hosts, hope to be back soon. Sept 2007. Warm friendly welcome from Sue and Roger leading to a lovely relaxing holiday. Great golf at Castro Marim.

We had a lovely week away in May 2009.
Property was exactly as described, clean and tidy. The pool and gardens were especially nice. They provided a small fridge which was useful to keep things cool during the day - if however you want to enjoy a deeply chilled bottle of wine the local supermarket has a limited selection pre-chilled!
Roger and Sue are brilliant hosts, always keen to help. The breakfast (choice of cooked or continental) was freshly prepared and set you up for the day perfectly. Very good local restaurant which you can easily walk to.
Location wise it was a very convenient location from which to visit Faro, East and some parts of West Algarve. Beaches from Tavira (via boat) and Barril (via train/walk) were exceptional.
Overall we had a very relaxing week away and look forward to returning.

We have just returned from our weeks stay at Roger and Sue's cottage and all we can say is what a totally peaceful and wonderful break we have had. Nothing is too much trouble for Roger and Sue and the cottage, gardens and pool area were nothing short than fantastic.
If you want to recharge your batteries and see rurual portugeese life and get away from the hustle and bustle, then this is the place for you.
Totally relaxing.....Great hosts.....Fantastic location....nothing else to say other than we will most definately be going back
