Tavira Garden is well maintained quiet and spacious, considered the eastern Algarve's premier complex. The buildings are individually designed and set in extensive immaculate mature gardens. Facilities include 2 large pools both with children’s pools attached & surrounded by sun loungers & shade if required, football/tennis court, gym, children’s playground, BBQ area, office (open Mon-Fri, English spoken), restaurant/bar with dining inside and out, ample parking space. The complex is in the northern part of unspoiled Tavira, one of the most graceful and historic towns on the Algarve. With its narrow cobbled streets, traditional tiled houses, castle, Roman Bridge and numerous old churches, exploring is sheer delight. There are dozens of little restaurants to tempt you, offering high quality food at economical prices. Massive Tavira Beach (12km long) has just been named one of the Top 10 beaches IN THE WORLD by 'The Lonely Planet'. Many other huge clean sandy beaches are nearby.

Historic Tavira is the most beautiful and elegant town on the Algarve, sited on both sides of the broad River Gilão and overlooked by ancient balconied houses. It has avoided the excesses of development and lost none of its grace. There are numerous pavement cafes & restaurants, many along the banks of the palm-lined river. The massive Ria Formosa Nature Reserve is rich in bird and plant life and the peaceful hills and villages of the Serra do Caldeirão are just a few km north, with stunning views. Relax on one of the massive clean sandy beaches along this stretch of coast, most with EC Blue Flag status. Magnificent Tavira beach has several good restaurants and parasols/sun loungers to hire. Many other huge local beaches are nearby - all, including Tavira, uncrowded even in summer. This area has the warmest sea in Portugal. The Spanish border is approx 30km east, where the border castles & ancient villages are well worth exploring. Many top quality golf courses are within easy reach.

    Payment may be in £/Sterling if required.

    The rental prices are for maximum 2 people plus baby in cot; an additional 20 Euros per person per week or part week is charged for person No 3 and person No 4.

    The 'Minimum Stay' periods shown on the prices chart are always negotiable.

    PAYMENT DETAILS: Bookings more than 8 weeks before arrival - payment of 30% deposit required on booking to secure reservation; balance payable 8 weeks prior to arrival. Bookings less than 8 weeks before arrival - payment of 100% required on booking.

    The rental cost for part of a week is charged pro-rata the weekly rate.

    All prices include bathroom towels & bed linen.

    Air conditioning - cools in summer, and may be used as an additional source of heat in winter - payable locally if required, price 3 Euros per day (not applicable to long-term winter lets, when all electricity usage is paid by client).
  • WE WILL ALWAYS CONSIDER ANY REASONABLE OFFER FOR LATE BOOKINGS WHEN THE PROPERTY IS STILL AVAILABLE!
  • LONG-TERM WINTER LETTINGS: are offered in this apartment from 1st November 2009 to 31st March 2010, at 165 Euros per week - 4 weeks minimum booking. This long-term winter rental price excludes the cost of electricity used - meter readings are taken on client's arrival and departure and the cost of units used is then payable locally.

    CANCELLATION POLICY: in case of cancellation, the 30% deposit is non-refundable; and we will reimburse as much of the 70% balance as we have been able to recoup with any replacement booking.

    Please note that if payments are not made promptly your booking may be liable to cancellation.

    We advise our clients to always obtain holiday insurance.

Airport transfers & transport round the area: We can arrange your airport transfers with a local cab firm at discounted prices. We can organise your car hire with a local company, to collect on your arrival at Faro Airport at no extra charge or for just part of your holiday delivered to your apartment (we have no financial interest in either of these, but they are companies used by friends and family with 100% satisfaction!) Bicycle hire is available in Tavira town. Trains go to other parts of the Algarve or further into Portugal. Local buses go to other parts of the Algarve; buses from Tavira bus station travel further afield including Seville and other parts of Spain. Private boat trips can be organised completely tailor-made to suit your wishes and very good value for money; eg fishing, bird watching in the Ria Formosa, exploring the coast, etc. Why not take a short boat trip to one of the nearby deserted beaches, or to Santa Luzia village for a leisurely cheap fish lunch in a little restaurant overlooking the sea?

Miscellaneous additional information: The apartment is legally licenced for letting by Tavira Council and the Health & Safety authority. The apartment has smoke alarms, fire extinguishers & blanket, a security safe for guests' use free-of-charge, selection of books and CDs, comprehensive information folder. The apartment is cleaned to a high standard before clients' arrival. There is a small charge for using the Tavira Garden gym and football/tennis court. Facilities in the Tavira Garden laundry, including tumble dryer, may be used for a small charge. Access on arrival generally by 4.00pm, and check-out on departure day generally by 11.00am; but these times are flexible whenever our other clients' bookings permit. Luggage storage is available. We have been providing holiday accommodation for more than 5 years with much praise from our clients! We meet arriving clients personally at Tavira Garden, and, as we live very nearby, can deal promptly with any queries during your stay.

Shops and Internet facililities: It's just a very short walk from Tavira Garden to the fascinating old town, harbour and Roman Bridge areas of Tavira, where you will also find the tourist information office near the medieval castle. Nearest supermarket, approx 100 metres (open 7 days per week, 9am-9pm). Nearest bakers, cafés, bars, chemist, post office, other small shops, cash point, approx 500 metres. There are numerous small shops dotted around Tavira; or, for more serious shopping, visit the new Tavira Gran Plaza shopping mall. Browse round the large daily market in the town which sells local fresh produce, fruit/vegetables, fish and meat. Internet facilities are available at several places in the town, and Tavira Garden's reception and adjoining lounge area is a Wi-Fi zone. Golf: Several top quality golf courses are within easy reach - the nearest, Benamor (5,500 metres, par 71) was designed by Sir Henry Cotton and is just 4km from Tavira Garden. Other nearby golf courses include Quinta de Cima; 6,256 metres, par 72 - 10 minutes drive away; Quinta da Ria; 6,110 metres, par 72 - 10 minutes drive away; Castro Marim; 5,466 metres, par 72 - 20 minutes drive away; Two new prestigious golf complexes are also very near - Jack Nicklaus's Monte Rei is approx 15 minutes drive, and Sevi Ballesteros's Quinta do Vale is approx 20 minutes drive. Lots of other golf courses in western Algarve and western Spain are less than an hour's drive from Tavira Garden. A substantial discount, currently approx 30%, may be obtained at local golf courses with a Tavira Garden card. Golf club hire is available including trolleys.

Other Activities: BIRD WATCHING, particularly around the Ria Formosa Natural Park. FISHING, boat hire can be arranged. KITE SURFING, in nearby Cabanas village.

We visited for a second time in June this year - having also stayed last October. It is a lovely apartment of a very high standard with every facility you could wish for. The complex is very well situated with Tavira Gardens and is a short walk into the Tavira town centre which has a great selection of restaurants, cafes and shops. The beaches - Isla Tavira, Cabanas and Barril are wonderful wide open stretches of white sand. We hope to be back!

We thought the apartment was excellent, well equipped, clean and tidy and really liked the roof terrace area as we had a small baby and could sit outside in the evenings and watch the sun set.

There is a walk into Tavira, but we really enjoyed this and allows you to see the town on the way. The boat trip to the beautiful beach was also good fun and adds a little something different for families.

Facilities at Tavira Gardens are also excellent, the pool area was very quiest as we went to the secondary pool that was slightly smaller, but a lot of sdays we had this to ourselves! The pools were kept very clean and tidy.

Overall I would highly recommend this area, I would also recommend having a car and exploring as we didnt as we had a small baby, but from people telling us it sounds like there was lots to see in the surrounding area and some other gorgeous beaches within driving distances.
