Tavira Garden, considered to be the premier complex in the unspoiled eastern Algarve, is well maintained, modern and spacious. The buildings are imaginatively designed in Moorish style, each different from its neighbour, set in extensive and immaculate mature gardens in this quiet complex. Facilities at the complex include 2 large pools both with children's pools attached, surrounded by sun loungers and shade if required, large well equipped gym, tennis court, children's playground, BBQ/picnic area, lounge area, office (open Mon-Fri, English spoken). There is a restaurant/bar with inside and outside dining, and ample safe parking space. The complex is situated in the northern part of unspoiled Taira town, one of the most graceful and historic towns in the Algarve; with its marrow cobbled streets, pastel-coloured houses, castle, Roman bride & numerous old churches, exploring is sheer delight. There are dozens of little restaurants to tempt you, offering cheap high quality food.

Tavira is said to be the most beautiful & elegant town on the Algarve, sited on both sides of the broad River Gilão & overlooked by ancient balcony houses. It has avoided the excesses of development and lost none of its grace. There are numerous pavement cafés & restaurants, many along the banks of the palm-lined river. The massive Ria Formosa nature reserve is rich in bird and plant life, and the hills and villages of the Serra do Caldeirão are just a few km north, with peaceful lanes ideal for walking or cycling. You may wish to relax on one of the massive clean and uncrowded sandy beaches stretching along this part of the coast (warmest sea in Portugal!) some accessed by a short boat trip from Tavira town. The Spanish border is approx 30km east, where the border castles and ancient towns are well worth exploring. 4 top quality golf courses are within easy reach; the nearest, Benamor, was designed by Sir Henry Cotton and is just 4km from Tavira Garden.

  • NOTE - Price Reductions in 2009 resulting in savings of upto 20% !
    PAYMENT DETAILS: bookings more than 8 weeks before arrival - payment of 30% deposit on booking to secure reservation, balance payable 8 weeks prior to arrival. Bookings less than 8 weeks before arrival - payment of 100% on booking to secure reservation. These payments may be converted to Pounds Sterling if required by client.

    CANCELLATION POLICY: in case of cancellation the 30% deposit is non-refundable. If cancellation is less than 8 weeks before arrival we will reimburse as much of this 70% as we are able to recoup with any replacement booking.
    We advise our clients to always take out holiday insurance.
  • LONG-TERM winter lettings: these are offered 1 November 2009-31 March 2010 at 190 Euros per week. 4 weeks minimum booking. This rental price excludes the cost of electricity used - meter readings are taken on client's arrival and departure and the usage is payable locally.
  • All prices, including long-term winter lettings, include fresh bed linen and towels every 7 days.
    Air conditioning (heats as well as cools!) payable locally if required by client, price 4 Euros per day (not applicable to winter long-term lettings).
    The 'Minimum Stay' periods shown on the Rental Rates chart are always negotiable.
    The rental cost for part of a week is charged pro-rata the weekly rate.

Airport transfers & transport round the area:: We can arrange your airport transfers with a reputable local cab firm at discounted prices. We can organise car hire for you with a local high quality company - to collect on your arrival at Faro Airport if requested at no extra charge, or for just part of your holiday delivered to your apartment. We have negotiated special discounted rates for some groups of cars for certain seasons of the year. Bicycle hire is available in Tavira town. Trains from Tavira Station will take you to many other parts of the Algarve or further afield. Local buses go to other parts of the Algarve & buses from Tavira bus station travel further afield including to Seville and other parts of Spain. Boat trips can be organised - maximum 7 people - completely tailor-made to suit your own wishes. For example, fishing, bird watching in the Ria Formosa, exploring the coast, etc.

Miscellaneous additional information:: SHOPS: nearest supermarket (medium-sized), bakery, cafés, bars, post office, other small shops, cash point - approx 700 metres. SMOKING: we ask smokers to smoke only in the outside areas and not in the apartment - thank you for your cooperation. SAFETY: the apartment is fitted with a fire extinguisher, fire blanket and smoke alarms. GENERAL INFORMATION: the apartment has a security safe for guests' use (free of charge). The apartment is cleaned to a high standard before guests' arrival. The tumble dryer in the Tavira Garden laundry may be used by guests at a small charge. There is a small charge for use of the gym and the tennis court. Please note that the gym and restaurant/bar on the complex sometimes have limited opening off high season. Access to the apartment on arrival may not be until 1600hrs, and guests may be asked to vacate the apartment on departure day by 1000hrs - but only if necessary for changeover and cleaning requirements.

Internet facilities:: Internet facilities are available in several places in Tavira, and the old covered market place in the town is a Wi-Fi zone.

Golf: 4 top quality golf courses are within easy reach - Benamor, 5,500 metres, par 71, 5 minutes drive; Quinta de Cima, 6,256 metres, par 72 (voted the best course on the Algarve in 2004), 10 minutes drive; Quinta da Ria, 6,110 metres, par 72, 10 minutes drive; Castro Marim, 5,466 metres, par 72, 20 minutes drive. A substantial discount may be obtained at local courses (currently approx 30%) with a Tavira Garden card. Lots of other golf courses in the western Algarve and western Spain are less than an hour's drive away. The new Monte Rei golf complex, due to open 2007, is 15 minutes drive - it's rumoured that this will be one of the largest golf complexes in Europe.

Our stay in Tavira

We really enjoyed Tavira Gardens. The apartment was spacious, clean and ideal for our family of 4. Us and two younger teens. The complex was fairly quiet in the mornings - no need to reserve beds by the pool - and the staff were friendly. Although not far from the centre of Tavira, the only downside was the walk along the main road = no real pavement = and around a major roundabout before getting into the older town. We did not hire a car, if we had, we would not have noticed this so much.

There is a ralway station a few minutes walk away - Porta Nova -which connects to all stations along the Algarve, and of course the beaches are excellent.

I would be happy to return to finish seeing the bits we missed - I am sure we will. And I wouls certainly stay here again

Stayed at this apartment with young children during July & thought the facilities were excellent. Apartment is very spacious. On site amenities (swimming pools, playpark & restaurant) good too. Would recommend to anyone. About 15-20 mins walk to centre of Tavira.

We have stayed at Tavira gardens in this apartment on several occasions and found it to be spacious, very comfortable and well fitted out with good quality equipment. It is maintained to a very high standard and you are made to feel really welcome.
The location is very attractive with good facilities and it gives easy access to many places on the Algarve.
