Villa & cottage with pool in beautiful country location, sleeps 10

Casa de Parreira (House of the Vine) is an attractive Portuguese country property tastefully built on the site of an old farmhouse. The house is in a rural location (small hamlet of 4 properties), with a number of other properties located in the area, however the property and garden is private and not overlooked. The villa constructed 'upside down' to take advantage of the extensive panoramic views towards the coast (views to Faro) and inland to the Algarve countryside with views to Barrenco do Vehlo (Alentejo). The large entrance hall leads left to a king sized master bedroom with an en-suite & right to a twin bedroom & bathroom. Upstairs there is a large open plan lounge and dining area leading through to a spacious well equipped kitchen. French windows lead onto the balcony terrace overlooking the pool and distant hill views. A third twin bedroom is located on the first floor. The house, garden & pool are secure within a fenced and walled garden, making it ideal for young families.

The property is in a peaceful rural location close to the small village of Varjota, but only 25 minutes from Faro airport and the local town of Loule is less than 8 minutes away by car. Loule with its Moorish origins is an attractive market town with a thriving market located of a tree lined avenue with shops, restaurants and craftsman workshops. The nearest beaches are reached in just 15 - 20 minutes and a myriad of golf courses are 12 minutes away at Vilamoura. The courses include The Old Course, Millenium, Laguna, Pinhal, Vila Sol and Victoria. Within 30 minutes drive there are Salgados, Morgados and Penina to name but a few more. The house, surrounded by local citrus and olives groves extends northwards to undulating hills and wooded valleys, making it an excellent location for walking and cycling. Local villages of interest include Alte, Salir and the hilltop village of Querenca with a regional restaurant and stunning views across the countryside. Car parking for up to 3 cars.

If a couple are looking for a long let during the winter period - we can let either the main house or cottage to suit your budget. The studio cottage rate out of season starts from £175.00 per week. Please enquire and book early so not to be disappointed. 10% deposit only (instead of 20%) for bookings made before 31 December 2007 for July-September 2008. Notes to the rental rates

  • Deposit: 20% of rental to be paid in full at the time of booking. Balance: To be paid in full two months before arrival date.
    Security Deposit of £250 to be paid with the final balance. The £250 will be credited to owners account as 'security', and will then be refunded subject to no damage etc.
    Rental Price includes: Gas, water, electricity, bed linen, hand and bath towels. Excludes wood in low season.
    Changeover day: Change over day is generally Saturday. If you cannot book flights for this day, please contact us to see if we can accommodate you on a different day, we are flexible!
    The rental rates quoted are based on a party of six sharing the main house. Rates are also available for groups of up to 10 people.
    Rates start from £275 per week in Low Season, £500 in Medium Season and £600 in the High Season. Maximum rental rate in peak summer is £950 per week for 10 persons.
    Please enquire regarding your family or group size to obtain the most economical booking rate.
  • Cleaning service is weekly, with Linen and Towels changed at the same time.
    Swimming pool cleaned twice weekly all year round.
    Service provided by our a local person from the village who manages the pool, garden and organises the maid service. They are also available to deal with any specific queries or problems in an helpful manner. English is spoken.
  • Discounts for long lets i..e. four weeks and repeat customer bookings for 2008.
    Special Autumn and Winter Let prices: 3 weeks from £225.00 per week for 4 persons. (Excluding Christmas period).
    Four weeks from £220.00 per week. (Based on 4 people using the main house, exc. wood for the log fire).
    Short hire periods available out of season, please enquire to suit your cheap flight deals from the UK.

Sports and Activities - including Golf

There is a wide range of activities and sports facilities close by including, tennis at Villa Club Tennis Centre near Almancil & Jim Smith Tennis Academy at Quinta do Lago. There are also municipal tennis courts in Loule. The local countryside to the north around Alte, Silves and Monchique lends itself to both cycling and mountain biking. Bikes are available for hire from the house. For walkers, November to March is amongst the best months to explore the Algarve hinterland on foot, a feature of the Algarve winter is the non-polluted air quality. There are plenty of interesting walks straight from the house, venturing into the farmlands, foothills and woodlands of the Algarve. For Horse riding enthusiasts there are a number of riding and trekking centres very close by, including qualified English speaking instructors. (Having used them, we can recommend them)

Restaurants and Dining Out.

There are numerous restaurants within 20 minutes of Casa de Parreira to suit every budget and appetite. The nearest restaurant, Maderiense is only minutes away and serves a variety of Portuguese food including wonderful steaks and chicken and chips. Prices are economical with chicken and chips at 5 euros, Brazilian steak and chips at 12 euros and wine at 5 to 9 euros a bottle. The other main locations for restaurants are at Loule, Almancil, Faro, Vilamoura, Quinta do Lago, Lagoa and the hinterland villages of Querenca, Salir, Alte and Silves. Further away, but ideal for lunchtime eating are the restaurants on the mountain road out of Monchique or the fish restaurants along the coast at places like Alvor, Albufiera and Armacao de Pera . Excellent quainter restaurants in Faro within the walls of the old town - 25 minutes by car and well worth a visit!

Skiing Information:

The nearest ski location is at Sierra Nevada in Spain which is four and half hours by car - motorway all the way from Loule to Granada and the foothills of Europe's most southerly ski resort. We tried it two years ago and stayed in Sierra Nevada village with 'wall to wall' sunshine and excellent skiing. Well worth a try!!! Stay on the Algarve for a week or two in the winter and try 5 -7 days skiing at Sierra Nevada.

Golf Information:

With 30 premier golf courses along the Algarve, this surely is a golfers paradise. The nearest golf courses to Casa de Parreira are at Vilamoura and Quinta do Lago, only 12 minutes away by car. These include Laguna, Millennium and the Old Course, as well as Pinhal and Vila Sol. (Discount Golf Bookings are available through our local contact) Penina and Vale do Lobo are easily reached within 20-30 minutes. Further a field, but only one hour by car are more economical golf courses in Spain which are well worth trying!! We can offer minimum rental periods of 4 nights for parties of golfers looking to take advantage of a long weekend ie. Thursday to Sunday or Friday to Monday evening. Mid week bookings also available to suit your requirements or cheap flights from the UK. Please enquire regarding your requirements.
