Villa Andorinha is a large new villa in the Alma Verde resort, which has won numerous prestigious awards, including this year's (2006) Homes Overseas Gold award for best sustainable development. The villa is ideal for families with children of all ages with the heated pool having a large shallow area (50cm) at one end to allow toddlers to enjoy the pool and salt water chlorination, which significantly reduces skin irritation and burning eyes. The villa has been beautifully furnished and has a spacious open-plan living area, leading out onto the shaded patio with barbecue facilities and pool terrace with sun loungers. There is TV with access to 40 channels (incl. Sky Sports and Sky Movies) and various languages. A large roof terrace allows you to enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding hills and a glimpse of the Atlantic Sea. Fantastic blue flagged beaches are within easy reach by car.

The villa is situated in the unspoilt Western Algarve at the edge of the Costa Vicentina National Park, close to Burgau a small picturesque fishing village with cobbled streets and a stunning secluded beach. Restaurants, cafes and beach bars can be found in Burgau and most neighboring beaches. Just 10 minutes from the resort are two renowned golfing complexes (Parque de Foreste and Boa Vista) and many more golf resorts can be found along the coast. The wild Western Atlantic coast has magnificent cliff views and is deal for walkers. Traditional, colourful fishing villages dot the coast. For those wanting shopping and nightlife, the historic town of Lagos is 15 min away. There are many excellent restaurants, a lovely marina and long promenade to stroll along. The national park is right next to the villa and is great for mountain biking and walks.

Living Room: The large open plan living room features two large sofas and one chair and has a flat screen TV with 40 channels in English, French, Dutch, German and Portuguese (including Sky sports and Sky Movies), DVD with surround sound and CD player.

Coast / beaches: Endless beautiful uncrowded sandy beaches and stunning coves dot the coastline of the Western Algarve. The charming fishing village of Burgau is a 5 minute drive and has lovely beach bars serving grilled fish and other traditional Portuguese dishes. Many other beaches are within 10-20 minutes drive and await to be explored!

Travel: Alma Verde is located 10 km West of Lagos (100km of Faro) on the EN125. With the opening of the new motorway extension to the Western Algarve, the journey from Faro International Airport to the villa is now a comfortable 60 minutes. Lisbon and Seville airport are a 2 and a half hour drive; flights to these airports can be a lot cheaper at the peak season. Car hire is strongly recommended in order to make the most of the surrounding area

Golf: Golf: Parque De Floresta (3km) and Boa Vista (4km) are 2 superb golf courses welcoming to visitors.

great family holiday

Had a superb holiday in this lovely spacious and beautifully furnished villa. This villa will suit everybody but is absolutely ideal for families with children and in particular smaller children, as everything is catered for.
We had arrived with two families and the kids, of all ages, had a great time in the heated swimming pool. The shallow area was ideal for the smaller one and it was hard to get them out.

5 minutes from the beach in Burgau and very near to many other very varied beaches, this was a superb holiday. Sky sports and movies was great in the evening.Would thouroughly recommend this villa in a wonderful spot of the world.

Excellent Villa!

On behalf of all of our group I am writing to let you know that we all had a fantastic time at Vila Andorinha. We enjoyed many a lazy day by the pool and BBQs at night, the local beaches at Burgau, Luz and Lagos were all really nice and we discovered a brilliant restaurant which we went back to several times opposite the church in Luz which had amazing views looking out to sea. Our 2 girls loved the pool and the Charlie and Lola DVD's.

We will be recommending the area and in particular your villa to everyone we know, especially those with small children. There was even some talk amongst our group about returning to the villa again next June as we all enjoyed it so much.

Luxury family-friendly villa

This villa is fantastic - especially if you have small children. High chairs, cots and even a selection of toys, books and DVDs are provided. The villa was spotlessly clean on our arrival and is also cleaned mid-week when towels and bed linen are changed. A nice touch.

For us, the best bit about the villa is the pool. The heating meant that the kids could play happily at any time of the day, even in May. There is a huge shallow area which meant that they also had their own kid-safe zone to play in allowing the adults to relax. It is also cleaned mid-week.

The villa is pretty much all on one level (with a stairgate blocking access to the roof terrace) meaning that we were able to let our toddler roam around without worrying about steps, etc.

The complex has a great park and there are a multitude of gorgeous (child-friendly) beaches within a 5-25 minute drive. We seemed to have most of these pretty much to ourselves at the time of our visit in May. Within the villa, there is everything you could possibly need to eat in and the satellite package meant that we could catch more football than at home. The complex management team were welcoming, helpful and efficient.

Absolutely fabulous villa for families with kids

Dear Michaela,
thank you so much for a wonderful holiday in your great villa. We arrived with two families and lots of children of various ages. Your instructions were very clear cut and we found the villa without problems.
As soon as we opened the door we knew we would be in for a great holiday. The villa is superbly furnished and has everything that we needed for our children, from stairgates to bedguards, videos, toys etc. The highlight yet was the swimming pool particularly with the shallow end that was perfect for all the smaller kids. The very large garden was great for play and enjoyment.
I was very impressed as well with your very helpful ongoing email correspondance and support right to the end.
The beaches around this area are amazing and very varied and this holiday certainly offered something for everybody.
We will certainly come back to what has been a really great holiday.
