Situated in a peaceful and modern residential area, this tastefully furnished, three bedroomed semi detached house is ideal for any type of holidaymaker - whether to use as a base from which to explore the delights of the Eastern Algarve or simply enjoy a relaxing seaside resort break. The house comprises a spacious lounge with TV DVD and SKY. This leads to the kitchen which is modern in design and fully equipped. To the rear of the house is an outside patio with dining table and chairs and a traditional brick BBQ perfect for al-fresco dining. Also on the ground floor is a twin bedroom and shower room making the place ideal for the elderly or less able. The upper floor has a full house bathroom and 2 double bedrooms with views overlooking Altura village. Car parking is in front of the house.

Altura is a wonderful village which has retained most of its original Portuguese charm and feel.During the day, there is a laid back, relaxed atmosphere where visitors can enjoy a coffee or a beer at one of the many small bars or take a stroll and do some leisurely shopping. The village has a daily market selling fresh produce, patisseries, a mini market, gift shops and a bank. There is also a large supermarket on the edge of the village. In the evening, visitors can choose from a wide selection of restaurants to suit all tastes ranging from the cheap and cheerful Tascas to High Quality cuisine. The beach restaurants can be highly recommended. Overall Altura is a lovely village brimming with Portuguese charm and a friendly family ambience. Good bus networks and local taxi firm. Car hire not essential. .

Additional information about rental rates

  • • Rates are for up to 6 persons. Travel cots are available at 20 Euros per week and 12.50 Euros for subsequent weeks . A 20% deposit is required to secure the reservation with the balance payable 8 weeks prior to arrival. All charges include cleaning before arrival, cleaning and change of linen once per week and cleaning after departure. All linen and towels are provided.
  • • Payment is preferred in the specified currency. We may have to charge you for any bank fees incurred should the payment be made in a different currency. A Refundable House Deposit of £150 or 150€ is required.
  • • Long term winter rentals are available at reasonable rates. Winter months may attract a small additional heating charge. Please enquire for further details.
    Changeover days are flexible. Normal check in time is 4pm and checkout 10am. These times will only be applied if absolutely necessary and we will accommodate arrival and departure as fully as possible. Villa care company available throughout stay for assistance if required. Linen change and cleaning weekly.

Notes: The accommodation is comfortable, spacious and clean and tidy. To the rear, leading from the kitchen, there is a good sized outside patio area which is walled and offers some privacy, although not entirely enclosed. There is sufficient garden furniture for 'al-fresco' dining. There is also sufficient space for 2-3 people to sunbathe.

THE BEAUTIFUL TOWN OF TAVIRA : When staying in this accommodation a visit to the beautiful town of Tavira is essential! You will not fail to be enthralled by its unspoilt charm, character and tranquility. As you wander along the cobbled streets, you'll see an abundance of history dating as far back as 2000BC. A Roman bridge links the 2 parts of the town across the River Gilao, its sides decorated with traditional old bars and restaurants where you can relax and enjoy a peaceful drink or meal. Horse drawn carriages and a small train operate around the town and are perfect for sightseeing and enjoying the peaceful ambience. The many churches (37 in total!), the town castle and the typical fisherman's harbour leading to the River Formosa Natural Park are all places to visit, along with the wonderful daily market selling fresh home grown produce. Tavira Island and its wonderful beach is accessible by ferry boat from the town and offers excellent facilities with a wonderful holiday atmosphere.

LOCAL BEACH AND OTHER ACTIVITIES: The Algarve is famous for its wonderful sandy beaches and Alagoa is no exception. A sun worshipper’s paradise with white expansive sands and good water for swimming, the beach is located at the bottom end of the village and can be reached in around 20 mins on foot. There is also a choice of restaurants.By travelling a little further afield there are a good range of things to do for everyone. For nature lovers, forest walks, cruises along the River Guadiana or nature trails along the Ria Formosa Reserve where bird watching is in abundance! Travelling West there are some excellent shopping centres in Faro and Ghia as well as the famous Water Parks and Zoo Marine all easily reached by car or by day trip coach. The Spanish border town of Ayamonte is approx 25 kms by car, where the delights of another country can be sampled along with wine, Tapas and shopping. Ayamonte can also be reached by ferry from Vila Real. Seville is about 170km away, and budding historians may enjoy Castro Marim.

GOLF: This is perfect accommodation for golfers wishing to sample the excellent courses situated in the Eastern Algarve. Within a 20km radius there are 7 courses to choose from. Benamor and the 2 Quintas (Ria and Cima) are the most popular and can be reached within several minutes. The prestigious new course of Monte Rei designed by Jack Nicklaus now has its first 18 holes open and is continuing in its development to the second phase offering the height of golfing luxury - although a costly experience, this is a real treat for golfing fanatics wishing to experience a little high life! Travelling only 10kms further on towards Spain, the challenging course of Castro Marim, along with its famous country club comes highly recommended and just across the border are the Costa Esuri and Quinta do Vale courses now growing in popularity. We can organise a full golfing package with 1 price per head with play at a selection of these courses, car hire and rental of this property. (Flights not included)

First of all, gottavila was as serious as anyone could wish for.

The house is very well equipped, the rooms are very beautiful as well as the region.

All the staff was perfect, Mrs. Robinson is very friendly, very kind.

Next time I rent a house in Algarve, will certainly be through Gottavila.
