I have been to the Algarve now on several occassions, both with the family and for golf. On this occassion it was a mix with just my wife my son and I, all playing some golf with a mix of beach holiday and some sightseeing. The apartment was perfect in every way for us. It is a fairly new property, in excellent condition with nice comfortable furnishings, a home away from home so to speak. Not at all like some of the souless properties I have rented in the past from some top name management companies. The outside space is excellent with a secluded rear garden with an excellent barbeque and front terrace overlooking the shared swimming pool. The pool itself is a very good size and although shared by the six properties you we found that the only time we did not have it to ourselves was at the weekends. The claim that the beach is only five minutes away is accurate and a lovely beach it is too. the property is also within a 20 minute walk of several restaurants although we did find a better one some 5 minute drive away. If you have a car it is an ideal spot for touring, nothing is too far away, we went to cape st Vincent in 45 minutes with Silves and Lagos about 20 minutes away. We played golf at the Villamoura courses which were a 30 minute drive although Salgados is 5 minutes away. We found this property ideal for our needs. It is within a gated plot and is sited well away from the road. Chris the owner was friendly and helpful and made contact via phone for advice which was a real plus as i like to know who I am dealing with. There is a new supermarket 5 minutes walk away although it obviously caters for the British tourist at slightly inflated prices. if you have a car i would reccomend the Continente supermarket within the Algarve shopping centre.
I much prefer the golf at Villamoura and they had some excellent deals during July and August, I recommend you do not prebook your golf. It was half price after 12 with a free buggy and juniors (under 18) went free. I would also reccomend the Mueseu du Salgados near Guia, as a restaurant. the Fish Cataplana was the best I have ever tasted. From the apartment go towards Guia and turn left at the roundabout with the horse carriage on it and it is about 1/2 a mile on the right.
I would highly reccomend this property, particularly to those with children. You can sip your wine from the balcony whilst supervising the kids in the pool.
Excellent value, will be back next year.
