Excellent Accommodation

Our group (eight in total) have just returned from a lovely week in Gale (week commencing 11 June 09). The pictures of the townhouse do not do it justice! The townhouse was certainly large enough for all of us plus all our flipflops!
All the bedrooms have there own ensuite, three out of the four overlook the pool area which gets the sun until around 7:30pm.
We did not hire a car for the week as the group was so large, but if you did want to explore the Algarve further I would definatley recommend you did.
There are a couple of supermarkets within walking distance the nearest being 5 minutes away which has a good selection of food.
There are restaurants within a 20 minute walk of the townhouse and more fantastic restaurants a very short taxi ride away, still within the Gale area. The taxi's are cheap and Albuferia Old Town and Marina is only a 5 -15 minute drive (depending on traffic and time of day) away. The house has a 'useful info' book and a collection of free maps with resturant reccommendations (which you'll also find in all the towns and villages if you visit). Particular favourites were Dom Dimis, Luau, Sao Dominges and Por do Girasol.
About five minutes walk from the house there is a Travel Agency that specialises in tours/day trips. We booked a boat trip (33 euros per person) which included collection from the Galemar Complex, four hour boat trip from Vilamoura harbour to Gale beach and back, a tour of the grottoes and lunch. I would definately recommend visiting the travel agency early on, if like us you do not have a car and rely on taxis or buses.
There are two beaches near by, both according to taxi drivers and a few locals the best in the Algarve. The nearest is a 5 minute walk and the other probably around 10 minutes.
The townhouse is approximately a 30 minute drive from Faro airport.
Miriam (the owner) has been lovely to deal with, from the initial enquiry to after the holiday.
We will definatley be returning to this townhouse some time in the near future.
Owner's Response: Thanks so much Claire. It was a pleasure renting to you. I feel myself that the photos do not show the spaciousness of the house. Also the pool gets the sun from early in the morning till late in the evening which is a real advantage . The roof top also gets the sun for the whole day. i must say I have had no negative reports from any holiday visitors to date.
