Ideal for Family Holiday

The villa was clean and ready for our arrival. We found it to be quite homely and well equipped. Its position on the resort is perfect, being close to the pool but not noisy. The large terrace is private and comfortable, with lovely views of the sea.
The resort itself is very well located, being walking distance to the gorgeous Sao Rafael beach and some excellent local restaurants - Praia Grande on the beach road, and O Marinheiro in particular. The marina is about 25 minutes walk, and has cash machines, restaurants and boat trips. It's not a particularly pleasant walk along the main road though.
The children loved the resort swimming pool, which was always clean and didn't seem overcrowded. There was no 'sunbed reserving' although you might struggle to get one if you arrive at the pool after 11am.
We didn't hire a car and this was fine for a 1 week holiday. The resort reception will phone a taxi for you - but it does take a long time for them to get through. The local taxi service seems a bit hit-and-miss, but overall we never waited more than 15 minutes for one, either from the resort or in Albufeira. We used a taxi to take us to the local Lidl supermarket, as the mini-market down the road is expensive.
We were impressed with Sheila & John's communication from initial enquiry right through to our return home - they even telephoned us at the villa to check that everything was OK for our holiday.
We had a great family holiday at Ponta Grande, and have already recommended this villa to a couple of friends.
