Casa de Amendoeira: accomodation and facilities:
The upstairs bedroom has its own private terrace, and there is a walled roof terrace above for discreet sunbathing. Both provide pleasant country and mountain views. Inside the villa there is a large, friendly kitchen, while the big living room opens out onto the pool terrace.
There is a mini-market within walking distance. A selection of typical Algarve restaurants are nearby, while good access to the IP1 motorway puts Faro, the western Algarve with its waterparks and golf, and even Spain, within easy reach.

The eastern Algarve:
This is a much less touristy area than the string of resorts to the west of Faro. This is the place to go for a more relaxed and carefree holiday away from the package crowds. Casa de Amendoeira means 'house of the almond tree' - referring to the almond tree next to the kitchen door! The villa is located just south of the very Portuguese country town of Moncarapacho (there is still a working blacksmith here!), but not too close. At night all you may hear is the sound of cicadas and the screech of an owl. During day the normal sounds of the countryside takes the place of tourists and commerce.
Flights and car hire:
Although we leave it to guests to arrange their own flights to Faro, we may be able to help with car hire by recommending some reliable firms. Car hire is really necessary as public transport is not easily accesible from the villa; it is best arranged before you leave. You can pick up your car at Faro Airport when you arrive, and leave it there when you return home. Cycling on the country roads is fun and you can easily get to the beach on a bike (these can be hired locally).
The sea is about 3 km, and the sweeping sandy beaches nearby are considered among the best in Europe, yet are rarely crowded.
