The villa is located in the small fishing village of Cabanas, just a 40 minutes drive east from Faro airport. It is within the Golden Club Complex - a development which lies within the boundaries of Ria Formosa Nature Reserve. The villa overlooks a sandy beach, which is accessed easily by boat. Amenities within the resort comprise a sports center offering squash, tennis, a gymnasium, a heated indoor-pool with sauna and jacuzzi, and two large outdoor pools. The complex has also children's club with daily activities for younger children and there is also night-time entertainment during the summer season. There are bars, restaurants and a reception area within the complex. The fishing village Cabanas is just 5 minutes walk away. It offers a wide range of bars, restaurants and Portuguese life style.

There are two villas, Casa Franca has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, Casa Francisca has two bedrooms and three bathrooms. The master bedroom leads onto a spacious terrace with splendid views over the sea. Both houses have air-conditioning and kitchens are fully equipped, suitable to prepare delicious meals with fresh, local ingredients which you can already find in Cabanas or at the fish- and vegetable market in Tavira. Due to the air-condition, the house is comfortable all year round. Additional information about rental rates

  • Rates are for 1 to 6 persons. Shorter breaks cannot be arranged or only for the weekly price. In case you are staying e.g. 8 days, a daily rate gets added to the weekly rental price. Children's cots are available at 20 € first week, 12,50 € for any subsequent week. A breakage deposit of 100 € will be collected on arrival or may be paid prior arrival. The deposit will be refunded on departure assuming no damages occurred beyond normal wear and tear. A 50% deposit must be paid when making a reservation; the balance is due not later than 8 weeks prior to arrival. Payment in Euros is preferred. If you pay in another currency, we will charge you for the bank fees might incur and any difference in the amount you send and the amount we actually receive from the bank due to exchange rate differences. If you cancel more than 8 weeks prior to arrival, the deposit will be refundable only if we rent the house again for the same period. Returned deposits will have a 25 € processing fee deducted.
  • If you cancel 8 weeks prior to arrival, no refund will be made unless we can rent the house at the same or a higher rate for the full period. All rates include cleaning before arrival, change of linen and towels once a week and cleaning after departure. Also included are air conditioning and heating and the use of the facilities of Ressort Golden Club such as in- and outdoor pools, jacuzzi, sauna, fitness- and sports centre. All linen and towels are provided except beach towels. Long term rentals can be arranged. Please contact our agent for special rates available for such rentals.

They will respond your enquiries and reservations and also can help with car hire or any problem might occur. Excursions and destinations around Tavira: We recommend hiring a car because there are so many places to visit in the Eastern Algarve and across the border in Spain. In addition to the golfing opportunities described below, you can go cycling or mountain biking, fishing, water skiing, wind surfing, boating and swimming in both the sea and the calmer lagoon waters. For nature lovers, the Algarve is a treasure trove: bird watching is excellent at all times of year, but particularly fruitful in spring and autumn when the migratory species are on the move between Africa and Europe. Wild flower and garden enthusiasts will appreciate the time between January and April, starting with the almand blossum. For the history minded, excursions to the castles at Castro Marim and Alcoutim will also give you a look at life in the Algarve hills away from the seaside resorts. The picturesque border town of Vila Real Sto. Antonio contains a wonderful town centre built to the plans of the Marques de Pombal following the earthquake in 1755.

For families and children: There are many activities for families and children, beyond of course, the activities offered by Golden Club and the beaches. There is a children's club with daily activities for younger children and there is also night time entertainment during the summer season. As well a boat ride on the Guardiana River or the Ria Formosa lagoon can be fascinating or just to take the ferry boat to the beaches on the offshore islands is a treat. Most restaurants are family friendly. The Ria Formosa Nature Reserve has a lovely walking trail explaining the ecosystem of the Reserve. There is also a centre for the preservation of the Portuguese water dog at the Reserve.

More Things to Do: Tour the Roman ruins of Milreu at Estoi and the Estoi Palace and gardens and then relax with crazy golf at the nearby QM Garden Centre. Spend a day in Seville (about 2 hours away via the A22 motorway). Visit the Camara Obscura in Tavira and the astronomical observatory north of Tavira for a different sight of the Algarve's attractions. Tour the Mine Park which explores the mining history of the area through archaeological and historical displays ranging from Roman times to the 20th century. Or take a local train to Faro, the provincial capital and wander around its fascinating old quarter, the pedestrian precints and the shopping centres. You also can take a local train or drive to the famous fish market in Olhao. Or if you are here at the right time, go to the Medieval Days Festival at the castle in Castro Marim or attend the outdoor film festivals in Tavira.

Great Location, views and superb beaches

We had a lovely time at this villa and the area is fantastic. (Octber 2009)The views are directly over the sea nad the Ria da Formosa and the sunrises from the main bedroom are really something to write home about (Don't bother trying to photograph them as it doesn't do it justice). The villa itself is well equipped and comfortable. The focus is on living space and the kitchen is smaller but more than adequate to cook for a family every night. It does mean that you have a large lounge and dining area for some family time and you don't feel too crowded (We were a family of 5 with 3 teenagers). The third bedroom is a very small bunk room. It was adequate for my son on his own but I wouldn't put adults in there.

If I "had to" find fault I would say that we struggled to get the hot water to work consistently. We had to mess with it to get it to give us five consistent showers. We didn't complain though so no fault to the agents for not fixing it because we didn't ask them to.

If you love the out doors, want untroubled views of the sea and a quiet time, this villa is perfect (in October half term anyway). Before booking it I would just ask if they have serviced the boiler and the fly screens needed a little attention. I am really hard to please but found the location of this villa ideal for our needs.
