Villa Riva is a 3 bedroom 4 bathroom luxury detached villa with a private swimming pool in a secluded private road constructed in a 'Miami style' . On the ground floor an extensive comfortable lounge/dining room with patio doors leads to a garden terrace with swimming pool & barbecue, overlooking the boutique marina. If you enjoy outdoor eating this is the place for you, those 'al fresco' meals helped down with a bottle of wine. A fully fitted kitchen with all mod cons, alternatively a short stroll to the marina with restaurants & bars within an attractive pedestrian only promenade. The lounge/dining room is extensive, on the first floor there are three bedrooms with bathrooms all with excellent views. Master bedroom has round double bed with balcony over pool. A study area is available with wifi access available or equally nice as a quiet place to read. The property is really not suitable for young children due to the un-guarded pool and balcony balastrade

Villa Riva is a stunning modern house situated in the heart of the new Albufeira marina, within walking distance to quality restaurants, bars and shops, whilst still benefiting from a quiet residential area overlooking the Marina pontoons . 35 minutes from the international airport at Faro, the villa is in an ideal location for marine enthusiasts and golfers alike. The town of Albufeira is a short free bus ride away and the new Algarve Shopping Centre is only a 15-minute drive from the villa. The nearest Golf course is at Salgados 7 minutes by road. The renown beaches of Gale and Castello are a 5 minute drive away. The nearest beach is Sao Rafeal a big sheltered beach. Car hire is recommended for getting to the best beaches, for those that prefer to walk a beautiful cliff top trail is an alternative. Local attractions include Water Slide Parks, Zoomarine, Jeep Safaris and Water based pursuits. Boat Charter/Hire can be arranged.

Golf information: There are currently 31 golf courses and 513 widely differing holes to play in the space of 100 miles of coastline, with more under construction. Most of the Algarve golf courses are within half an hour drive from the villa, Salgados only 7 minutes. Warm playing conditions and immaculately manicured fairways and greens are the norm in the Algarve. The choice and variation is unsurpassed in Europe. Lessons available from professionals on all courses. Unlike in Britain, all of the Algarve's courses are open to visitors. Most require a handicap certificate (not Salgados); all insist on a dress code and proper course etiquette. Salgados - just west of the Villa the 18 holes have been likened to Florida as they narrowly meander through many lakes in a protected nature zone. Accuracy is paramount ! Balaia - Part of a large estate a nine-hole executive course, ideal for sharpening up your short game. Pine Cliffs part of the Sheraton hotel is a nine hole used by many visiting pros.

Tennis and Bowles: Tennis courts can be booked by the hour, either at one of the specialists centres with professional coaches on hand to help improve your game, or at any of the hundreds of private courts. Local facilities include those at the Albufeira Tennis Club. There is a bowling green at Club Praia d,Oura, at the end of the famous 'strip' on Montechoro. Visitors are always welcome and prices, including hire of woods, are reasonable. Like golf, tennis and other outdoor sports, the southern European climate allows lawn bowls to be played in the Algarve all year round.

Water Sports: Boating, Scuba diving, Paragliding and sea fishing trips are all available from the Marina.

Other Activities: sea fishing, wind surfing, boat hire, dolphin watching, shopping

I stayed at Villa Riva for one week with two friends during September 2009 and can say that the photo's do not do the place justice. The layout and look of the building is modern and very impressive.

The owner, Russell, was extremely helpful and made sure everything was perfect during our stay. The property was clean and tidy throughout and if we required anything Russell was easy to contact. It was nice to have a TV that received the majority of British channels, as well as a recording facility on the receiver box (although we didn't manage to work how to use it!).

The Marina itself is relatively quiet, with only a few bars and places to eat. There is a small shop nearby for shopping, and a supermarket 5-10 minutes away on foot. There is also a place to book excursions within the Marina who were really helpful.

If you wish to for more choice, in terms of restaurants, bars and shops, the Old Town is only a 10-15 minute walk. If you are looking to go further afield, there is a taxi rank within the Marina area. A taxi to Montechoro (The Strip), which is the lively "New Town" area of Albufeira will cost you 5-6 Euros and a taxi to the Albufeira Shopping Centre will cost around 7-8 Euros.

I will look forward to returning in the near future and cannot recommend Villa Riva enough!
