Charming, traditional and homely. This was my famalies first visit to portugal and this villa only added to the delightful holiday. On arrival to the villa we were met by our friendly and very helpful maid who kept it spotless during the two week stay. The villa was larger than we had expected and unfortunately the photos cannot do the gardens and views justice. The outside dining and barbque aeras made an evening sat around the villa extremeley enjoyable. The interior and furnishings complimented the original, and traditional feel to the villa. The pool was large enough to keep my two teenage sons happy, especially on return to the villa after the night out into the town. On our second day we were visited by Mario the manager/rep. He was exremeley helpful and made a point that he would do his best to make our stay as enjoyable and strees free as possible.
The location of the villa suited us totally as we did not want to hire a car, so walking to the beach and Old town was a daily event but enjoyable. The beach was approx 5 mins away which then stretched the width of the town. If we walked directly to the town it took 10/15 mins. Travelling further afield was relatively easy as the buses were regular and reasonabley priced.
The Old Town itself was full of very tempting restaurants and bars, with prices to suit all budgets, but we did as usual find that qaulity varied and this was not dependant on cost.By both day and night the town felt extremeley friendley, safe and family orientated. In the centre of the town was a square which hosted various performers/entertainers free of charge.
The beach was of a fine goldy coloured sand and extremely safe with the bonus of being patrolled by lifegaurds. The beach also supported the usual watersports from bannanas to jet skis. A short walk from the villa was the harbour from which you could enjoy one of the many excursions around the coast both part or full day. During our holiday we also visited Zoo Marine,(were our sons experienced swimmimg with dolphins),Aqualand water park and Vilamouri.
This holiday suited us totally. I would recommend this villa to family or friends who are looking for traditional, unspoilt Portuguese accommodation with the understanding that some walking is neccessary. Albufeira old town itself has not suffered from overdevelopment. You can spend the evening strolling the beach, having a meal then find a bar to bring the day to an end.
