Manta Rota is a small town next to Altura, with a strong Portuguese feel to it. The town includes bars, restaurants and supermarkets, all within walking distance of the villa. The beach is 6 minutes walk from the villa, a beautiful sandy beach stretching for miles. To the right of the beach is the Rio Formosa, a nature reserve stretching 67 kilometres along the coast to Faro. The villa is within ten minutes drive of several top golf courses, including the newly opened Jack Nicklaus course at Monte Rei and the Ballesteros course at Quinta do Vale.
