Places of Interest:
The Western Algarve is a beautiful unspoilt area of natural beauty, with sleepy whitewashed fishing villages. Cape St Vincent, and its historic fort, at the furthest western point of mainland Europe is certainly worth a visit. Also inland is the historic mountain village of Monchique, worth a visit if only to see the magnificent views to the south and the Atlantic to the west, also the castle and ancient town of Silves shouldn't be missed.
Sports:
Salema Beach provides Pedalos and canoes. Horse riding is available through local stables. Surfing is available on the West coast beaches. The marina in Lagos provides boat hire and charter sea trips. Local bike hire is also available for off and on road cycling. There are waterparks just east of Lagos for family entertainment.
Numerous challenging golf courses within 3 to 30 minutes drive.
Nightlife:
Lively bars and restaurants can be found in Burgau and Luz, with a local selection of very good seafood restaurants in the nearest fishing village of Salema. For those seeking more entertainment Lagos is only 15 minutes drive with its numerous bars, restaurants, discos sufficient to meet anyone needs!
