Casa Abilheirai is a comfortable villa ideal for spring and summer holiday rental. The property is let as a self-catering unit for up to 7 people. It has a 12metre swimming pool below the house, reached by steps through the delightful garden. The property is set in an approx half hectare of land, landscaped round the house with attractive shrubs and flowers. The main accommodation is on the first floor. The two main bedrooms and the large sitting room open on to a large secluded sun terrace that is totally private. There is always some shade available. In the summer months this is the place to eat out and relax. A romantic place on a lovely summer evening. The swimming pool has loungers and chairs and a shaded area. Up over the hill and you are in a different place, fantastic view, lovely walking in the cooler months. More of the old Portugal there are lots of place to explore. The west coast is as accessible as the south coast. Lots of wild flowers in spring and summer.

The house is located about 4km up the hill towards Foia from the delightful small town of Monchique, where there are good shops, cafes and restaurants and all usual facilities. Monchique has a nice friendly feeling The house is about 25km from both the south coast and the west coast. In spring the wild flowers are fantastic particularly towards the west coast. The west coast is very beautiful but the south coast is safer for swimming. There are nice places to walk and explore.

  • The master bedroom on first floor has a very spacious en-suite bathroom. The second bedroom has its own bathroom across the passage. The downstairs bedrooms are en-suite The bathrooms are all tiled in traditional style.

Notes: The villa is situated in the Monchique hills. We have great views to the coast. In spring and autumn it is a lovely area to walk in. The garden/shrub area extends to nearly half a hectare. The area near the house is full of delightful plants. The swimming pool is below the villa accessed by a flight of steps with gates for small children. The swimming pool is 12m long, 2m deep in the deep end 1.5m in the shallower end. For children there are broad steps to play on. There are sun loungers and a shade area. The house and garden is great for children but it is in the hills and there are a number of hazards, rocks etc. to watch for The maid comes 3 times a week for 3 hours a time - We have a part-time gardener/handyman living close by. The little town of Monchique is a delightful place with nice gardens, cobbled streets, cafes, restaurants and grocery shops. There is a fruit and vegetable market on weekday mornings. There are two cash automats in the town

More about the area: The Monchique area is great for a relaxing holiday. The little town of Monchique is full of charm. Good places to eat, have an ice cream or coffee. Beautiful town gardens for wandering in. Our house is up the hill towards Foia. The road is attractive and lovely views. One is spoilt by the views it is not often that one can see such a wide panorama. The area is especially lovely in spring and early summer. the wild flowers are just great - more lovely flowers in our extensive garden. We have golden eagles and mountain martins soaring over us. Very few aeroplanes overfly. the air is exceptionally pure.
