Casa Pinheiro is a private family villa set in a peaceful, unspoilt region of the Algarve. It lies at the heart of the beautiful Ria Formosa wetlands nature reserve and is rich in bird and other wildlife. We have 5 acres of land running down to a tidal lagoon where local fishermen harvest shellfish etc. and moor their colourful boats. On the other side of the lagoon is a five mile long sandy Atlantic beach. There are plenty of excellent inexpensive Portuguese restaurants in the area. Casa Pinheiro is perfect for people who enjoy peace, beautiful natural surroundings and sunshine.

The nearest town is Tavira (5 miles away), an old-fashioned fishing port, full of lovely squares, churches, shops and markets. The nearest village, Luz de Tavira, is a mile away and has a small fish, fruit and vegetable market and a modest supermarket. Casa Pinheiro is about half an hour by road from the Spanish border. The beautiful city of Seville is less than 2 hours away and the whole of Andalucia is within easy reach. Lisbon can be reached in two and a half hours by road. The Algarve hills with their wonderful spring flowers and spectacular sunsets and good walking and birdwatching are ten minutes away.

Notes: The land is planted with olive trees, umbrella pines, orange trees etc. and is safe to wander over without going near a road. We have several outside terraces looking out to sea. Also a boules pitch.

We have over 30 years experience of renting our holiday home in this wonderfully unspoilt area of the Portuguese Algarve to discerning guests who love the peace and beauty that it offers. In 2004 we built Casa Pinheiro in a superb front line position at the water's edge in a nature reserve known as the Ria Formosa, 5 miles to the west of Tavira in a peaceful undeveloped part of the Algarve. Casa Pinheiro is set in 5 acres of its own land running down to a tidal lagoon with the beach and the sea on the other side. In front of the villa our land runs down to a tidal sea lagoon where local fishermen harvest shellfish etc. and moor their colourful boats. On the other side of the lagoon is a five mile long sandy Atlantic beach. The lagoon is ideal for sailing and windsurfing when the tide in.

The infinity swimming pool is 11 metres long and over 4 metres wide, with internal steps. For golfers, there is a lovely new 36 hole golf club called Quinta da Ria just to the east of Tavira at a place called Fabrica. There is also the less challenging Benamor course, designed by Henry Cotton which opened in 2000 on the outskirts of Tavira. Bird life is exceptionally interesting. Casa Pinheiro is a private family villa set in a beautiful nature reserve in an unspoilt region of the Algarve. The villa has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms and sleeps up to 8 people. A Great Holiday

We spent 2 beautiful weeks at Casa Pinheiro in early April. When we arrived we were met by Lourdes the house keeper who is a total treasure. She made sure everything was comfortable for us and kept the place spotless.

The villa was very well furnished and had everything you need to unwind. There were so many books that I wanted to read, it was a shame that we didn't have another week to read a few more. The gardens are beautiful and the pool is very grand.

We enjoyed the quiet location and felt very relaxed with the children playing in the garden, There we lots of things to do and see within 30 mins drive as well as some beautiful beaches. We are still missing the beautiful view and the peace and quiet.

Thank you for allowing us to stay in you beautiful holiday home.

The villa was well positioned in a beautiful location that was very accessible being only 25 kms from Faro.
The villa was immaculately clean and impressively well equipped as ones own home would be.I could not fault it despite having rented many 'luxury' villas.
Views from all principle rooms were mesmerising as they seemed to be like a constantly changing canvas as the tide flowed in or out from the lagoon with boats of various sizes and people on the beach/sand flats.
The housekeeper was attentive but unobtrusive.
Negative points? Only the street lights and the barking of the housekeepers dogs. Also the pool could've been bigger and heated by solar panels perhaps.
We would go again.
Also ,landlord is a true gent and let me haggle the price down a bit!

luxury and peace in a sublime location

What a wonderful place. The villa design is very clever, inside and out (there are several terraces to see the sunrise and the sunset or just lie in the sun); the bedrooms are large and each has a magnificent sea view. The infinity pool is gorgeous. The gardens are beautiful but natural and provide privacy and many sunny and shady nooks. The location is sublime and long may it remain so. The colours and light are so beautiful and change throughout the day with the tide. The birdlife is very interesting and colourful even though we are not experts.The housekeeper is a marvel. This was such a wonderful, relaxing holiday in a quiet bit of Portugal that doesn't seem to have very many tourists. We shall be back.
