Golf in the locality.:
Colinia Verde is a 9 hole golf course with an amazing range. This is situated 10 minutes away from Casa Gaia. Benamor, near Tavira, is an exquisite 18 hole golf course (about a 25 minutes drive). Other golf courses are 30-35 minutes by car.
Getting around and about. :
A car is essential to take full advantage of the area. Trains are an interesting way to travel the coast of the Algarve. They are cheap and run to time. However train stations are sometimes a distance from the centre of towns, so please investigate before travelling by train. Buses are unreliable and infrequent. In Tavira, and the larger tourist towns, a road train runs - this gives a flavour of the town. Also a horse and carriage is usually available for the less energetic. Spain is half an hour's drive - either via the Guardiana Bridge or by ferry from Villa Real. Boat trips around the lagoon or up the Guardiana are popular and very interesting.
