The flat is large, modern, fully equipped and maid serviced. Situated in a quiet suburb of the lively resort of Cascais, it allows easy access to the many beaches on the Tagus estuary as well as to the sights of Lisbon, Estoril, Sintra etc. There is swimming, tennis, golf and horse-riding available nearby, and good restaurants abound in Cascais centre and the surrounding area. The flat is located on the top floor of a low-rise block, is served by a lift and overlooks a pleasant wooded gully. Note for those who choose not to hire a car: there are bus stops within 5-10 mins walk, journey time to town centre 10-15 mins; walking time to centre is 20-25 min.

Day Trips from Cascais include: • Sintra, close to Cascais, 14th Century Sintra Palace, Pena Palace (scenic location on top of wooded peak), antique shops • Sessimbra, less than one hour's drive South, and the picturesque fishing port of Arabida on the road to Setubal • A drive along the coast road (the Marginal) due West from Lisbon to Estoril and Cascais is a must • Going further North, an hour and a half will take you to Obidos, a very pretty walled town full of craft shops • On the way to Obidos, stop at Mafra to see the Palace - recently cleaned and restored • Further North up the A1 motorway, is the university city of Coimbra, worth a visit • On the way to Coimbra, stop at Batalha, to see the massive Gothic Monastery; also Fatima

Location & Access: The flat can be reached by car from Lisbon airport in 40 - 60 minutes, via the A5 motorway or the more scenic Marginal road along the estuary. The bus service from Lisbon airport to Cascais has been discontinued. Take the shuttle bus from the airport to Cais de Sodre railway station and a train direct to Cascais. Journey time is about 30 minutes. There is a regular bus service from Cascais Bus Station (close to the railway station) to a stop near the flat which is close to the town centre.

Day Trips: Lisbon is best visited by train from Cascais Railway Station. Journey takes about half an hour to the terminal station, Cais do Sodre. From there it is two stops by Metro to the centre, Rossio. Historic sites which can be visited by car in a day include: Coimbra (Ancient University), Fatima (Shrine), Mafra (Monastery), Batalha (Cathedral), Obidos (Picturesque Walled Village).

Sports & Beach: There are at least 5 18-hole golf courses within 30 minutes by car from the flat; contact details on request. Swimming, Tennis and Golf are available at the Quinta da Marinha Club 1-2 km West of Cascais (Tel 00 351 21 486 9881/9). One of the best beaches for Surfing, Windsurfing, etc is at Guincho, about 5 km West of Cascais.
