Beautiful apartment and two independent romantic cottages in this exclusive private historic 18th century estate, the Portuguese “Quinta”, in the heart of the historic centre of Sintra (world heritage town) with large (18mx8m) swimming pool and beautiful gardens. Both the apartment and cottages provide two bedrooms, two bathrooms, only 5 minutes walk to the train station, 15 minutes drive to the beach, 30 minutes to Lisbon, 15 minutes to Cascais for more sophisticated night life and shopping. Location: There are several golf courses near by, including the famous Penha Longa and Estoril Golf course. Sintra is a world heritage site and there is a lot to be seen. This property is in the heart of its centre, and yet it is very peaceful and quiet. There are several beaches within easy reach, from the Guincho beach, famous for its wind surfing, to the Praia Grande beach also famous for surfing. Extremely charming and romantic private cottage on two floors, overlooking the beautiful woods of the property, with an independent garden with a lawn. A barbecue is available for guests' use. Both bedrooms are upstairs, sharing the bathroom. Downstairs, leading to the terrace and garden, are the sitting room and separate dining area, as is the kitchen. Both the dining room and the sitting room have their own fire place. There is another small bedroom available on this floor, for a child or an adolescent.

An excellent stay in Sintra

We've just had a very enjoyable week staying in Sintra.

The cottage is located in the grounds of one of the Quintas (villas) in the town; a wonderfully quiet and secuded location. However, it is within easy walking distance of the old town and numerous sights in Sintra. It's also close to the train station (5 mins - note that you can't hear the trains from the house) and thus a very easy 40 mins into the centre of Lisbon (trains every 20 mins). We didn't hire a car for our visit, using the airport bus/train to get to the cottage, and local buses for sight-seeing (plus the excellent tram to get to the beach).

Sintra is certainly a very nice place to be based for visit to the Lisbon area. Good shops and restaurants within walking distance, plus plenty to see in the local area and not too far from the beach.

The cottage itself is comfortable and well equiped as well as having a lovely 'English style' private garden. There was also daily maid service which we certainly considered to be a bonus. The Qunita has an excellent and quite sizable pool with the most wonderful views - spectacular!

The owner has been a very kind host, ensuring that we had some supplies on arrival and organising a travel cot and high chair for our baby.

All in all a very nice cottage and a great place to stay - recommended.
