Local Information: The village of Azoia is on the Atlantic side of the fabled Sintra hills, about 1 mile from Cabo de Roca, Europe's most western point. There are a number of excellent restaurants famous for their seafood, several bars and cafes and two basic general stores. Local produce is sold several times a week and there are busy market stalls at weekends. There is also a little supermarket 3 miles away. The Sintra hills have an abundance of Castles. Monasteries and Manor Houses to explore, and the wonderful walks have historic surprises around every corner.
Entertainment and sports: There is a twice monthly Sunday market in Sintra. A nearby restaurant where the famous Fado is sung. One of Europe's best wind-surfing beach is 3 miles away. tennis facilities are for hire in the village. A 20 minute drive will take you to the Gambling Casino in Estoril. The Estoril, the Penha Long and another four Golf Courses are within a 40 minute drive. Horse riding is available in several places.
