CASA NO AR and CASA DA LUA are renovated typical Portuguese country cottages dating back 300 years or more, set high up on the Sintra Mountain, near Colares, with panoramic views to the Atlantic coast and beaches and to the Sintra mountain with its spectacular historical Palacio Pena. Set in the woodlands above Penedo, a small village with one village shop, bakery, cafe and taverna, set around the church square and village fountain, gushing fresh spring water. Perfect choice for a peaceful, away from it all family holiday...or romantic hideaway...something for everyone from beautiful unpolluted beaches, historical monuments in Sintra, 5 golf courses within 15 minutes, nature walks in the mountain, fashionable Estoril/Cascais famous for its Casino and shopping centre, and of course Lisbon's city life just half an hour away.55

CASA DA LUA - (sleeps 2/4/5)...adjoins Casa no Ar, but has a seperate entrance. Garden, Patio with Barbecue outside the Living/Dining/Kitchen which also opens to a veranda on the other side with spectacular panoramic views to the Atlantic coast and the Sintra mountain. 1 bathroom with sunken bath/shower. Stairs lead down to a Bedroom/living area with fireplace, built in double bed, and single sofa bed - separate entrance. Another wooden spiral staircase leads down from Living room to a double Bedroom set in the natural rocks (old stable)with separate entrance doors from a patio...brightly decorated with orange and red as a contrast to the natural rock. This unusual open plan layout is hard to describe...there is only one interior door to the bathroom. There are child safety gates at the top of the stairs. CASA DA LUA only has access to the Pool when rented together with CASA NO AR. Great hideaway for romantic honeymooners.

CASA NO AR - CASA LUA Penedo, a small village set high up in the woodlands of the mountain of Sintra, above the town of Colares, and near to Almoçogeme and the beach of Adraga, both just a 5 minute drive away. The beaches of Praia Grande, famous with surfers, and Praia das Maças with its restaurants and bars, are about 10 minute drive. Sintra with its historical palaces and monuments is 15 minutes. Around the mountain the other way, one passes Cabo da Roca, the most western point of Europe, on to Guincho beach, good for windsurfing, to Cascais with its Marina, and small pedestrian streets, full of boutiques, cafes, bars, restaurants - 20 minute drive. Adjoining Estoril is famous for its Casino. Lisbon, with its numerous city attractions, is about a 40 minute drive, or a very pleasant train ride along the coast from Cascais. Ericeira, a small fishing village is a 30 minute drive northwards, as is Mafra with its enormous monastery and Malveira with a fascinating weekly Thursday’s market

Winter Rentals: Casa no Ar can be a really cosy winter retreat....great for a long weekend away from the stress of daily life, but close to Lisbon or Cascais night-life. Wonderful for nature walks or mountain biking, or bring a wet suit for surfing. The house has central heating, but more important big open fireplaces in the Dining area and the Living room. Firewood supplied. Special winter weekend break - pay two nights - stay three. Ask for discount for monthly rental.

SPORTS - Golf, Surfing, Sailing: There are 5 Golf courses within a 15 minute drive ....Penha Longe, Baloura, Estoril Sol, Estoril, Quinta da Marinha Praia Grande - 5/10 minute drive away, is famous all year round with Surfers Cascais Marina - 20 minutes away for Sailing
