The accommodation is a restored farm ('quinta') in the village of Zambujal, near Carvoeira, at one of the coastal hills between the sea-side town of Ericeira and Mafra, the district capital and at halve a hour drive from Lisbon. The first picture, taken from the little square in front, shows from left to right: the wine house, the former cow's house, the two storied main house (Casa Principal, sleeps 4 in two bedrooms) and, half-hidden by the yard wall, the former donkey house (Casa de Burro, sleeps 2). The 200 sqm yard includes a garden with grapes, roses and herbs and a part, paved with Portuguese cobbles, ascending step-wise to the Casa Principal. The place offers privacy and would perfectly serve as a base for beach- , surf- or golftrips.The rural surroundings are characterized by a hilly landscape with meandering streams in deep valleys, that ends towards the Atlantic in steep cliffs with sandy beaches. Even in autumn and spring weather is nice with a lot of sun hours.

Notes to the rental rates

• REDUCTION RENTAL RATES
  (-) By occupying just the main house (max. 4 people) the period rates of € 600,- , € 500,- and € 425,- lower respectively to € 500,- , € 425,- and € 350,- .
  (-) By renting the property two successive weeks or more, the rate for the 2nd and following weeks will be less € 50,-
  (-) A 'last minute' booking (less than 2 weeks before arrival) as well as an 'early' booking (more than 6 months before arrival) gives a 10 % reduction of the total rental sum.
  
• There is no safe deposit or extra charges. Rental sum includes a weakly cleaning, linen and towels as well as gas, water and electricity.
  
• (-) A 'last minute' booking (less than 2 weeks before arrival) as well as an 'early' booking (more than 6 months before arrival) gives a 10 % reduction of the total rental sum.

Reservation and Booking

After having agreed by telephone, e-mail or letter on the period of stay, number of guests and rental sum, you confirm the booking by a bank transfer of 25 % of the total rent to my account within 2 weeks, after which you get a receipt. Balance to be paid by bank transfer at least 3 weeks before arrival at Casa Zambujal. In case of a 'last minute ' booking, payment will be agreed otherwise.

Outdoor Activities

(-) Horseback-riding centre in Gorcinhos (3 km), fully equipped, with possibility of instruction and out-riding (-) Surf is practiced all year round at nearby beaches as São Julião, Lizandro and Ribeira d' Ilhas (worldcup-tournament) and trips could include the beaches Lourenço, Santa Cruz further north. In Ericeira you find a Billabong and other surf shops. (-) 9 superb 16 holes golf courses are concentrated in the region around Sintra and north of Estoril and Cascais. (-) South of Lisbon, at the other side of the river Tejo, along the Costa Azul, you can visit a number of national parks and nature reserves as Arrabida and the Estuário de Sado with dolphins, flamingos and characteristic vegetation and landscape.
