The 'Quinta dos Quatro Ventos' is the home of artists Chris and Tom Bund and 'The Cottage' is in a private corner on their land. The uninterrupted views are over the Atlantic and to the Lighthouse on Europe's most westerly point. 'The Cottage' is in a Studio type layout with a well equipped Kitchen counter and an ensuite Shower/Toilette room. It also has its own secluded Roof Terrace with clear views down to the Ocean and the Sintra hills. The unspoiled Village of Azoia is at the foot of the Historic Sintra hills and offers exciting opportunities for Hiking, exploring Castles, Palaces and Churches. Surfers Beaches, numerous Golf Clubs, Estoril with its Casino, Cascais and the World Heritage town of Sintra are within easy reach. Lisbon, with its International Airport is only 25 miles away.

Azoia, our Village, is on the Atlantic side of the Sintra hills, about 1mile from Cabo da Roca, Europe's most westerly point. Although still a peasant farming village, there are a number of excellent Restaurants famous for their Seafood, several Cafes and Bars and a very basic General Store. Local produce is sold several times a week and there are busy Market Stalls at weekends. The Sintra Hills have an abundance of Castles, Monasteries and Palaces to explore and wonderful Walks have surprises around every corner. Trains go from Sintra or Cascais into Lisbon where you can take a Tram around the 18th Century centre and then up to the old Arab Quarter and on to St. Georges Castle. For Night Life, the newly developed Docks are not to be missed and so are the traditional 'Fado' places in the Bairo Alto.

Coast & Beaches: The nearest Beach is a 15 minute walk away : but one needs to be fit to manage the steep climb down. Other Beaches are from about 10 minutes by car, including 'Guincho Beach', well known for its annual Windsurfing Championships.

Special Interest: Our Atelier is on the property and anyone is welcome to join in. Our day-classes, on Mondays and Wednesdays 10.00-13.00, are suited to all abilities, the Saturday morning class is foe Kids from 6-16 years old. We teach Drawing skills and Painting in all media, Watercolour, Oil, Acylic and even Tile Painting.

Travel & Distances: The nearest larger Village is 10 minutes by car and there is also a bus. To get to Sintra or Cascais takes about 25 minutes. Lisbon Airport is about 45 minutes by car and there is a bus connection to our Village via Cascais. We recommend renting a car because there is so much to explore... on request we can rent a Bicycle for you.

Golf: The Village is well situated for Golfers. The nearest course is 'Penha Longa', 'Estoril' and 'Quinta da Marinha' are about 20 minutes drive.

Other Activities: we have small but very active Art School and everyone is welcome to join the day classes.

Beautiful villa in stunning location

My fiance and I had the most perfect holiday here. The villa is immaculate and very charming inside with a fantastic view across the rolling tree-lined cliffs. The owners, in true English style, are good natured and helpful whilst respecting one's privacy. The surrounding area is beautiful with a myriad of things to see and do, from dramatic cliff walks and vanilla-coloured sandy beaches to mountain drives through enchanted forests dotted with castles and palaces straight out of a fairytale. The local markets sell excellent fresh local produce (the wine is delicious and sells for about 1 Euro a litre) and the village has an excellent sea food restaurant, plus a cafe and basic food store. A short drive away is an even better beach-side fish restaurant and bar.
Thoroughly recommended, but a car is essential.
