Things to do: Wonderful walks are to be found in the wooded hills and along the Atlantic cliffs, this part of Portugal is a walkers an hikers Paradise.
There are numerous places of interest to visit - the World Heritage town of Sintra with its 8th century Moorish castle, 14th Century Royal Palace and steep alleys. Colares, the centre of a famous wine-growing area, and the village above it, Penedo, are very quaint and close at hand. Lisbon, easily reached by train or motorway, is a most fascinating city not to be missed. Its 18th Century centre was built after the great earthquake of 1755. Take a tram from Cais do Sodré Station up the steep and narrow streets and visit the old Arab quarter, the Alfama. There are countless little restaurants in the Bairro Alto district and very reasonably priced. More up to date is the site of Expo 98 including its spectacular aquarium together with the night-life and restaurants along the old docks area leading to it.
Beaches: The Closest beach to 'Abelhas' is Praia da Ursa, it is only a short walk and a steep climb away... but it is hidden and exceptional. Other Beaches, Adraga, Guincho, Praia Grande, Ericeira, etc...are between 7 - 30 minutes by car.
Golf:
There are numerous Golf Courses in this area: Penha Longa, Estoril, Quinta da Marinha, Oitavos and many more, all within a 20-40min drive away.
