The Casa Zen has a good sunshine and commands a clear and magnificent view on the countryside which is very appreciated in the morning and overall at night when all the little house lights illuminate the sky down to the ocean.
The garden, very flowered thanks to the ceaseless efforts of the housekeeper, splits up in several levels, all full with gorgeous blossoms, cactacea, palm trees, tropical plants.
The heated pool is great. Thank to the solar panels ! The house is very comfortable, well equipped and furnished with a very good and modern taste. Spacious too. The TV satellite, the washing machine and dish washer are OK. The whole house is very clean and the bedding is good (we have liked the blankets at disposal as in June the nights are still cool). The location of the Casa Zen is very convenient because it is not far from the only big supermarket in Calheta on the sea front and in the evening from the « Tar Mar », in Paul do Mar at 10mn, very good fresh fish restaurant with homemade ices parfumed with exotic fruit. You will be very warmly welcomed there. And bravo to the local baker who horns each morning to bring you his fresh bread.
Our stay was so pleasant that we view to rent again the Casa Zen in 2012 to walk in the levadas (10mn driving) and to swim in the Porto Moniz sea swimming pools.
A car is absolutely needed in order to explore the island.
At least, casa Zen is a very good address to rest in quietness. Relaxing and peaceful spot.
