The village is a quiet location with all the necessary day to day amenities, but only 15 minutes for the new A17 motorway.

Pinhal de Leiria and its beaches

Some of the most idyllic spots on the stretch of coast west of Leiria are in the Pinhal de Leiria a vast 700 year old pine forest stretching from Sao Pedro de Moel to Pedrogao. Since its planting this forest has grown into an area of great natural beauty, with sunlight filtering through endless miles of trees and the air perfumed with the scent of pine resin. All the beaches and lagoons in this area are superb, largely spared development and with pollution free bathing. Pedrogao is close to the many highlights of the region Obidos - a superb medieval walled town, Nazare - a simply classic seaside resort, Alcobaca - 12th century monastery, Grutas de Mira de Aire - the most spectacular underground caves in the country, Fatima - one of the Catholic Churches most popular shrines, Tomar - Home to the knights Templar and the Manueline Convento , Batalha - Battle Abbey a UNESCO world monument, Coimbra a beautiful University town, the Ribatejo vineyards and several National Parks.

Activities

The area is ideal for long walks in the forest, on the beach or in the adjacent hills. Several golf courses are within easy reach of Pedrogao inc. the best golf course in Portugal Praia del Rey, voted 13th in Europe and in the Worlds top one hundred. Outdoor, Indoor swimming pools and water parks are available 10 minutes drive away. Surfing is also popular at all the resorts along the silver coast.
