A Beautifully restored cottage with use of pools, playground and 25 acres

Recently renovated former farm-workers cottage. child friendly with baby and toddler equipment supplied, Living/dining room with access to sun balcony with views over unspoilt countryside. Fully equipped kitchen area with gas oven, microwave & fridge. Master bedroom with double bed & doors to sun terrace. 2nd bedroom with bunk beds. Bathroom with large shower area, washbasin & WC. Ample parking space. Use of owners' swimming pools, children's play ground with sandpit, slides and swings, as well as football area, volley ball and badminton areas. Toys, board games and books supplied in each cottage along with DVD, PlayStation 2 console, TV and CD player. A wide variety of outdoor toys, inflatables etc are also available for our guests use. Mimosa Cottage is based on a Quinta which has chickens, ducks, goats and pigs, our guests have full access to all of the land including terraced pastures, eucalytus, pine and oak woodlands bordered by a brook with swimming hole and waterfall

Mimosa Cottage is situated on Quinta do Vale de Ferreiro in 24 acres of picturesque Portuguese landscape. Nearby features on the land include a stream and waterfall along with extensive terraces and woodland areas. Clay pigeon shooting is also offered near by & we can arrange horse riding / trekking for you. A Fibrocell dinghy with an outboard motor is available for hire & jet skiing, sailing and kayaking can be found nearby on the Mondego river (approx. 20 mins drive). Alternatively lazy days can be spent sunbathing by the pool with a new pool and toddle. For winter holidays, a ski/snowboard resort is situated on the slopes of the Serra de Estrella (approx. 50 min drive). The village with 3 cafe/bars is a 15 minute walk away. Oliveira do Hospital, the nearest town (10 mins by car) has shops, supermarkets, restaurants, bars, banks, a monthly market and a cinema. The larger city of Coimbra is a 40 min drive and offers many historic attractions and modern shopping malls etc.

Notes:

For a cosy winter break, there are 2 log-effect gas fires - one in the living area & one in the hallway near the bedrooms & bathroom. Electric heaters are provided in the bedrooms. A travel cot is available on request as well as toddler and baby equipment such as steriliser, cot, high chair, toddler seat, toddler cutlery and crockery, baby monitor, potty, baby bath etc. In the twin bedroom bunks are provided. A hair dryer is provided. A washing Machine and tumble dryer is also available at the main Quinta, charged at 5 Euros a load. A PlayStation 2 console with a library of games is in each holiday home and we also have a wide selection of DVDs which can be borrowed. New for 2008 an additional swimming pool with toddler pool, playground with swings, sandpit and slides along with a football area, volley ball and badminton.

Further details for the cottage in Portugal

Mimosa Cottage is situated near to the main Quinta (approx 5 min walk) and is totally self contained and fully equipped for self-catering. Resident British owners of the Quinta are always happy to consider any requests.

We are happy to arrange transport to and from both Porto & Lisbon airports to enable cheaper car hire from a local firm. Price on application. If you wish to hire a car at the airport, & need directions to the quinta, please ask us: You will be able to print off a route from there. If you would like shopping done for you prior to your arrival, please submit a list to the owners. They will happily do this for you & keep the till receipts for payment after you have arrived.

Kayaking, climbing and mountain biking events can easily be arranged with pick ups and drop offs. Organised overnight trips sleeping under the stars with qualified instructors also available. On the slopes of the Serra da Estrella, the highest mountain in Portugal, and only a 45 minute drive from Mimosa Cottage can be found a good ski / snowboard resort offering great fun for all. Organised trips for skiing with a qualified ski guide and instructor are available and can include all food. This makes the cottage an ideal place for a winter break. We have added log effect gas fires to both the living area and downstairs hallway for a cosy stay. Electric heaters are provided in the bedrooms.
