Foz do Arelho: The mouth of the lagoon and the wide sandy beach of Foz do Arelho are a 10 minute drive, with safe swimming for children in the lagoon. Foz do Arelho is a small old fishing village that is slowly becoming a popular holiday resort town due to the area's excellent swimming conditions. Ideal for surfing. Surfing lessons are available. There is a good choice of restaurants, cafes and bars in the town and along the coastal road. Close to a wide variety of museums, precious monuments and well famed restaurants serving the best of the traditional Portuguese Cousine, characterised by rich, filling and full-flavored dishes and is closely related to the Mediterranean cuisine.

Caldas da Rainha and Serra Del Rey: The delightful old town of Obidos, which still stands within medieval walls dating back to the Moorish occupation, is about a 5 minute drive away. Obidos is a beautifully preserved medieval town on the Costa de Prata, Leiria. The whole town has been declared a national monument in Portugal, and whilst the town defies belief due to the extraordinary wealth of magnificent medieval buildings, it has a great Portuguese atmosphere. A holiday in Obidos is a perfect place for a romantic getaway, with cobbled streets lined by colourful tiled whitewashed houses and churches. The Town of Obidos boats many festivals, concerts and events each year. These included: The next International Festival of Chocolate in Obidos 3 - 25 March. It just does not get any better for Chocolate lovers ! AND The Medieval Fair, Obidos, in July. A fantastic Fair close to some of the many spectacular beaches and close to a wide variety of museums, precious monuments and well famed restaurants.
The region boats moderate weather and it´s not too hot in the summer.
There is a lagoon with shallow waters that are perfect for children and less able swimmers.
The fishermen´s town of Peniche is nearby with very good seafood. To enjoy the area is necessary to visit the island of Baleal that is linked to the mainland by a narrow strip of sand.
Óbidos is a walled town that we advise you to visit, as well as the spa town of Caldas da Rainha, the monastery of Alcobaça and the fortifications of Torres Vedras.
