The restoration of the cottage has been done with the original materials and features wherever possible, and at the same time with a high level of sensitivity to design and the demands of modern living. On the edge of the World Heritage Douro Valley, and set on a Quinta (farm) that goes back centuries and has long been in the same family, the south and west facing cottages look out over a vine-covered valley leading down to the River Douro. Several of the farm buildings have been recently restored, and the land arranged to provide orchards, water features, lawns, woodland paths and a wealth of secluded corners. The village is rustic and quiet, yet conveniently close to the thriving towns of Régua and Amarante.
