Notes to the rental rates

• Rental Rates include: Gas, Electricity, linen and towels (please bring beach towels). A 25% deposit is required on booking and the balance is payable 8 weeks prior to departure. A refundable damage deposit of £100 or 150 euros is also required which will be collected with your final payment. This amount is refundable within 3 weeks of return less the reasonable cost of any breakages or damage done.
  
• The apartment is newly furnished with the accommodation on one level. Please note all 3 bedrooms have French windows opening onto balconies. The rear terraces/balconies overlook the pool and golf course and there is a teak table with six chairs (perfect for watching the wonderful sunsets). The apartment is centrally heated making it suitable for all year round use.

RESORT & ACTIVITIES

Situated amongst pine woods and sand dunes with two & a half kilometres of sandy beach frontage, the Praia D'El Rey Golf & Country Club is an ideal base to enjoy many of the leisure facilities this five star resort has to offer. These include the 18 hole championship golf course, driving range and clubhouse with bar, lounge and games room. Tennis centre with seven all weather multisport courts. A children’s activity playground is also located near the clubhouse. Water sports, including surfing and sea fishing locally, with the opportunity to windsurf, paraglide, sail & paddle in the more tranquil waters of the lagoon (ideal for very small children), in neighbouring Obidos. Horse riding & mountain bike hire can be booked & there are countryside & cliff top paths along the unspoilt coastline. Day trips from Peniche to the National Park at the Berlengas islands can be taken in the summer. Alternatively, there is a PS2 available for when the outdoor activities don't appeal!

THE SURROUNDING AREA

Obidos and Peniche are the two nearest towns. Obidos dating from 300 BC is a medieval walled town with narrow streets and bougainvillaea covered houses leading to the castle at the top of the hill. Peniche is a working fishing port where day trips to the Berlengas islands (a national park) can be taken in summer (May to Sept). A castle, museum and excellent seafood restaurants complete the mix. Other interesting towns are Bombarral (wine), Caldas da Rainha and Foz de Arrelho. Further afield are the religious shrine at Fatima, historic Coimbra,Sintra and of course Lisbon. Lisbon is only 1 hour away and has all the museums, shopping and nightlife you would expect of a thriving capital city.

The excellent 18 hole championship golf course, rated No 1 by the internationally recognised ‘Peugeot Golf Guide’, Gold Award Winner for the Best Golf Development by the 2004 Home Overseas Award and 13th in Europe by ‘Golf World’, is set in extensive grounds of pine forest and sand dunes with spectacular views over the Atlantic and the Berlenga Islands beyond. The 72 links style course is a good test for both the high handicapped golfer as well as the more advanced player. Very well equipped clubhouse with excellent practice facilities including a short game practice area. The apartment overlooks the first tee and is adjacent to the practice ground. Very good English speaking professionals. Buggies, trolleys and clubs are all available to rent. You will need an official handicap. The Resort is also within a reasonable driving distance of several other challenging golf courses within the region.
