Yavanna is located in beautiful unspoilt North West Portugal, close to the Spanish border. It is made up of 2 300 year old renovated stone farm buildings, & is still very much part of a traditional rural community. Yavanna combines the old charm of Northern Portugal with the comforts of home. Rooms are a blend of contemporary modern features, & traditional Minho farmhouse style. A 5 bedroom house sleeps family groups of up to 9 and (from september 2008 an additional 3 bedroom house sleeps up to 6). As well as a 12x6 pool with stunning views, Yavanna is within 30 minutes drive of a selection of sandy beaches. These are either quiet and safe for families, or there is big surf for body boarders, surfers and windsurfers. Note: We also provide Pottery/Ceramics holidays, as well as providing Yoga, Cycling & other enjoyable & creative workshops. Yavanna is a place to get away from the hustle & bustle of the commercialised world, although there is plenty to do within the local area.

Notes to the rental rates

• LAST THREE SUMMER WEEKS 10% OFF. £1300 NOW £1170!!!!
  Weekly rental prices include accommodation for up to 9 people in 5 bedrooms (5 have en-suite shower rooms). From September 2008, weekly rental prices include accommodation for up to 15 people in 8 bedrooms (5 have en-suite shower rooms). Yavanna is one hour from Porto airport. Car hire is easily arranged or transfers can be provided at an additional charge. We have only shown the rates of rental weeks above.
  
• A deposit of 50% is payable at the time of booking and the balance is due 6 weeks before coming to Yavanna. All rental weeks and activity courses run Saturday to Saturday. We hope you understand that it is a requirement of booking that you are fully insured. Please ensure that you are covered against cancellation, sickness, injury, losses and all the usual risks. Please confirm cancellation requests in writing. If received up to 21 days before arrival, then we're afraid your deposit is lost, but any balance paid is refunded. If within 21 days of arrival then we're afraid we are unable to offer a refund.
  
• Please confirm transfer requests in writing. With 6 weeks or more notice we are happy to provide a free transfer. With less than 6 weeks notice we're afraid there is a £25 administrative charge per head. With less than a week's notice the deposit is retained. All information on this web site is as accurate as we can possibly make it. Occasionally however, due to factors outside our control, some amenities and services may be temporarily unavailable. Very occasionally we may have to vary the advertised programme in which case we will always try to provide an equivalent replacement. Regrettably, we do not accept liability for any events outside our control, for any loss or damage to your personal property, or for any medical, illness or injury that could develop during your holiday. **** For more information please ask us for the address of our web site ***** Flights - There are a large number of airlines offering flights to the region - many at very reasonable prices. The nearest airports are Porto (one hour) and Santiago de Compostela in Spain (one and a half hours). E.g. Air Portugal, Ryanair, PGA Portugalia Airlines, Air Berlin, Air France, SN Brussels Airlines, Hapag-Lloyd Express, Iberia, KLM, Lufthansa, Swiss. It is also possible to fly to Lisbon with many airlines, including Monarch from the UK. It will be necessary though to hire a car and drive 4 hours in each direction if you choose this route. By Ferry - An alternative is a mini-cruise on a ferry. P&O run a service from Portsmouth to Bilbao. Brittany Ferries sail from Plymouth to Santander. The drive to Yavanna is 6-8 hours.

Beaches

Surf Beaches - Within a half an hour drive there are stunning sandy Atlantic surfing beaches. Portugal offers the best warm surfing in Europe with over 500 miles of consistent waves and no shortage of sunshine. Huge sandy beaches offer surf school and lifeguard patrolled areas. There is also a world renowned windsurfing spot at nearby Mindelo. Safe Sheltered Beaches - At the mouth of the Minho River, there are very safe clean sheltered family beaches. These are either at Caminha in Portugal or at Camposancos in Spain, which is accessible either by bridge or ferry. All beaches can be reached in about half an hour. Cafes and restaurants are available at most beaches - they are uncommercialised, small scale and friendly. River Beaches - Only 10 minutes from Yavanna is a sandy beach on the Minho River itself. This is lifeguard patrolled and has a beautiful terraced cafe. There is also wonderful canoeing and fishing possible on the Minho river.

Places to Visit

Within the immediate area, we have some very interesting towns and cities worth visiting: Porto is Portugal's second city, famous for its port wine trade, is just an hour's drive away. It is one of the most beautiful cities in Portugal. Santiago de Compostela is just 1.5 hours away over the border in Spain. It is a city where, according to a legend, the remains of the apostle Saint James were found. Nowadays the stunning city of Santiago is the second most important Catholic Pilgrimage centre, after Rome. Vigo is the largest city in Galicia, over the border in Spain, and only 45 minutes away. Known as 'The Barcelona of the West'. Ponte de Lima is a pleasant town named after its famous bridge over the river Lima, with both Medieval and Roman sections. Lisbon is Portugal's capital city. It's four hour's drive away from Yavanna, but well worth considering for those who want to extend their stay. Lisbon is the westernmost capital in mainland Europe.
