Murraryfield, the home of Scottish Rugby, is just a few minutes walk from the flat across Roseburn Park. 200 metres away is the Water of Leith walkway which allows a safe and pleasant walk to the historic Dean Village from where Art Galleries and the West End are quickly accessible, as is the world famous New Town - a World Heritage Site. Leaving the New Town it is a short walk to the Old Town which has much of historical and architectural interest dominated by Edinburgh Castle (a Must See) and terminated by the Royal Palace of Holyrood which is also the site for the new Scottish Parliament (a controversial building!). Travelling West, (by public transport) Edinburgh Zoo is quickly reached and is world famous for both its penguin colony and its animal breeding and conservation role. | Notes: | We warmly welcome guests with children and can provide a travel cot if required. Although the apartment is located on the first floor the stairs are relatively shallow and a buggy can be easily maneuvered. There is also plenty of room within the apartment to store a fold away buggy. The apartment is accessed by means of an entry-phone system. The Roseburn area has on-street parking with no charges or tariffs. Guests are highly recommended to leave their car at the flat if they are visiting the city centre, where parking is limited and very expensive. There is a comprehensive bus network operating within Edinburgh and a Day Ticket is an effective way of moving around the city and the various attractions. For guests visiting with buggy aged children there are several buses serving both the Roseburn area and other attractions which have low entry access and buggies do not always require to be collapsed. |
Roseburn
Roseburn is situated approximately ½ mile from Edinburgh City Centre. Originally, this area was not considered part of the city but existed as a separate village together with the likes of Corstorphine and was linked to the city by the West Edinburgh Train service, unfortunately now long gone. Nowadays, Roseburn is intrinsically part of Edinburgh city but has managed to retain its village roots, with a thriving village style centre – albeit on the main route to and from the West. And although the romantic era of steam trains has passed, the local bus service is frequent and efficient providing quick and easy access to all parts of the city and the various attractions. Within Roseburn itself you will find many local amenities, from grocers and newsagents to hairdressers and dressmakers, interior design shops and laundrettes. Combine this with open parkland and sheltered walks and the area provides a tranquil setting within a bustling city.
Other Activities Ice Skating, Rugby
