The property is located centrally in the highland village of Lochaline, part of the Morvern peninsula. It is about 40 miles or 65 kms from the large town of Fort William. The village itself sits at the mouth of the sea loch of the same name and overlooks the Sound of Mull. It has its own shop/post office, a snack bar, a social club, a hotel and a very good seafood and local produce restaurant.

There are many outdoor sporting activities available in the area eg hill-walking and fishing but perhaps the most prominent facility in Lochaline is a very active dive school. Both in Morvern itself and a short ferry ride away, on the island of Mull, you can find probably the best variety of wildlife available anywhere in the UK.

Of course it is not just a place for activity, it is also absolutely ideal for relaxation - away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life - enjoying the beautiful scenery, the beaches, the slow pace of life and perhaps, the occasional dram of whisky.

Garden: The front garden is well stocked and provides colour all year round. There is a large south facing back garden with outdoor seating and tables. Paradise

Review Submitted: September 18, 2011 Date of Stay: September 2011
Have been to many wonderful places in Scotland, always in lovely properties, but this one.....oh my. Just returned from a painfully short trip to this amazing house. Absoluterly stunning location - the pictures, while great, simply cannot capture the space and comfort of the house, nor the experience of the views from the warm (and large) conservatory. Each morning was like watching paintings unfold. Could hardly drag ourselves away to see more of the peninsula. Especially as we were blessed with unforecast sun on our second day.
Did on third day however, and Loch Sunart has to be seen: just magnificent. Strontian ia a very pretty little place too, great pottery there with very reasonable prices. Resipole Art Gallery worth a visit too.
House provides every conceivable comfort and was much larger than expected. Great styling and loads of books, DVDs, CDs to while away lazy days overlooking Mull.
Ease of booking, communications with Isbell (who called on our first night to ensure we had arrived safely and that we had everything we needed - thank you Isbell) and pricing of this fabulous place will guarantee many returns from us in the future.
Just quite wonderful

One of the best holidays we ever had

Review Submitted: August 10, 2011 Date of Stay: July 2011
We (six people from Austria) stayed in the house „Sealladh Brèagh“ (“beautiful view”) from July 16, 2011 until July 24, 2011. From the pictures and the description of the house and the contact with Isbell preceding our stay we had high expectations and, in short, these expectations were more than fulfilled. The location of the house, the arrangement of the rooms and the furnishings of the house are exceptionally. We also profited from a compilation of good movies on DVD and much information material about the surroundings. The crowning of it all is the conservatory with the view over the Sound of Mull. Another great advantage of the house is that it has three adequate sleeping rooms and two bathrooms. If you go out into the small garden you can enjoy an almost absolute quietness. If you have a car (which you should) then Lochaline is a perfect starting point for a lot of excursions into the mainland and the Hebrids, especially to the Isle of Mull (there is a ferry from Lochaline which takes 15 minutes). We, for instance, made two day-excursions to the Isle of Mull, one excursion to see Scottish Highland Games in Inveraray, and one excursion to Fort William to go with the Jacobite train (the Hogwarts Express from the Harry Potter novels) to Mallaig. The place Lochaline itself has about 200 inhabitants with a small hotel including a pub, which serves good food, one restaurant (The Whitehouse Restaurant), a café carried on by a diving centre, and one store which has everything needed and which serves also as post office, petrol filling station and cashpoint. All in all: a place to come back and to dream of the rest of the year …

What a stunning view!

Review Submitted: July 13, 2011 Date of Stay: July 2011
This was my second visit to this cottage as I had ejoyed my stay so much the first time. It has everything you need in a home form home - and so much more. The cottage was spotlessly clean and well maintained. We fed the birds daily, from the bird feed provided and attracted many delightful birds to the garden which we enjoyed watching from the very comfortable chairs in the conservatory. Although we had come to the area to enjoy the stunning scuba diving it was hard to drag ourselves away from the conservatory some days. The village shop had a reasonable range of products and the meals in the hotel / pub were good value for money. The Lochalaine Dive Centre, just two minutes walk from the cottage, provided great diving facilities.

A Fantastic Find

Review Submitted: July 3, 2011 Date of Stay: May 2011
"The property ticked all the boxes, just as described, tastefully furnished and comfortable, very well maintained.
Owner was very helpful with information before we arrived, was nice to get a phonecall to check that we had arrived safely and that all was ok.
Bit like a Tardis.....ittle blue doors at the front, universal views at the back!
The area provides stunning views and lots of good walks.
We enjoyed seeing the Sea Eagles.
Visiting the Isle of Mull was easy on the ferry, the one that you can also watch from the conservatory.
Fishing was good on the Loch and in the river.
The White House retsaurants in the village is 5*.
We just loved the setting and plan to return with friends to share this special place."

Lochaline cottage

Review Submitted: February 28, 2011 Date of Stay: February 2011
Just home from Lochaline. The cottage was just as described and deserved all the good reports it has. The owners have thought of everything and was very clean. The communication with the owner was very good and we appreciated the call once we had arrived to check everything was ok. I would definately recommend this property and hope to go back in the future.
