One of the best holidays we ever had
Review Submitted: August 10, 2011
Date of Stay: July 2011
We (six people from Austria) stayed in the house „Sealladh Brèagh“ (“beautiful view”) from July 16, 2011 until July 24, 2011. From the pictures and the description of the house and the contact with Isbell preceding our stay we had high expectations and, in short, these expectations were more than fulfilled. The location of the house, the arrangement of the rooms and the furnishings of the house are exceptionally. We also profited from a compilation of good movies on DVD and much information material about the surroundings. The crowning of it all is the conservatory with the view over the Sound of Mull. Another great advantage of the house is that it has three adequate sleeping rooms and two bathrooms. If you go out into the small garden you can enjoy an almost absolute quietness. If you have a car (which you should) then Lochaline is a perfect starting point for a lot of excursions into the mainland and the Hebrids, especially to the Isle of Mull (there is a ferry from Lochaline which takes 15 minutes). We, for instance, made two day-excursions to the Isle of Mull, one excursion to see Scottish Highland Games in Inveraray, and one excursion to Fort William to go with the Jacobite train (the Hogwarts Express from the Harry Potter novels) to Mallaig. The place Lochaline itself has about 200 inhabitants with a small hotel including a pub, which serves good food, one restaurant (The Whitehouse Restaurant), a café carried on by a diving centre, and one store which has everything needed and which serves also as post office, petrol filling station and cashpoint. All in all: a place to come back and to dream of the rest of the year …
