Cosy peaceful log cabin, complete with badgers.

Review Submitted: February 28, 2011 Date of Stay: February 2011
We had one of our favourite stays in Scotland ever!
It was very exciting as we started our badger watch each evening (around 7pm onwards). Also we loved watching the red squirrels play around in the trees. The location was brilliant and the beds were comfortable. The only problem was at night in the bunk room , the toilet flush sounded rather loud. We loved sitting in the lounge watching the wildlife through the big patio window and counting the long tailed tits and siskins (there was lots of them)!
One of the best things was definitely the wildlife.
We walked down to the beach quite often and enjoyed the coastal walks.
."It was very good" said Dougie(8).
The horse riding down the road was very nice and senic.
Dad and Dougie enjoyed the mountain bike trail centres in Dalbeattie forest.
The road up to the cabin is quite bumpy.
Overall a great place to unwind. We highly recomend this lodge.

Log Cabin

Review Submitted: February 8, 2011 Date of Stay: January 2011
This was the fourth time we've visited this beautiful log cabin & it seems to get better every time we go. The cabin is always clean, warm & welcoming & well equiped. The garden & surrounding area is full of wild life from small blue tits to a great spotted woodpecker,The red squirrels are great fun to watch as they run through the trees & come down to eat the peanuts. There are badgers that come to the garden to be fed every night & this January we were lucky to see two deer walking through the gardens. There are lovely walks close bye & the beach is beautiful, safe & is only 10 mins walk. There is also Barend Loch a five minute drive away with its resident swans, ducks & wild fowl. If your're looking for a lovely quiet restful break away well this is perfect. We enjoy it so much we're going back again later in the year.

Review Submitted: July 27, 2010 Date of Stay: July 2010
Highly recommended if you enjoy a peaceful, away from it all location. The wildlife on the doorstep was brilliant and the kids were amazed by the badgers in particular!!
The property itself was very comfortable and had everything you could possibly need for your stay.

holiday jewel

Review Submitted: May 26, 2010 Date of Stay: May 2010
If you would rather watch wildlife than watch the television,if a safe ,clean sandy beach-5 minutes away is on your holiday list,if seclusion and peace and quiet in fabulous scottish countryside is on your agenda with maybe a round of golf thrown in,if a clean comfortable holiday "home from home" fits the bill, then Cumstoun Lodge is for you.We loved every day of our holiday, marvellous!!!!.The badgers and red squirrels at the back doors were the "icing on the cake". We had the good fortune to meet the owners and they were very accomodating and very, very welcoming. This place is a treasure and is highly recommended,an undiscovered jewel!!!!! Thanks for a really chilled out holiday.
