Falkland Palace is a short walk away and open to the public through the National Trust of Scotland. This popular tourist attraction has coffee shops, eating places and craft shops situated around the High Street, a 9 hole Golf Course and 2 play parks. Ideally situated for lovely country walks.     (10 nights from 10th-19th July 2010) Braehead cottage is available at a total cost of £2300. A 5 night break is available from 19th- 24th July 2010 at a total cost of £395.
    Rental includes gas, electricity, bed linen and towels . Arrival after 4pm. Departure by 10am. Please leave the cottage as you found it to help us prepare for the next guests. A deposit of £200 per week booked (£700 deposit for the Open) will secure your booking, balance of rent due 8 weeks prior to holiday start date. Payment by cheque,bank transfer or Paypal please.
  • Our letting week runs from Saturday.Short breaks are usually available low season but during mid and high season are generally available last minute only.Christmas and New Year short breaks are available. Please contact us to check.

Parking:-: Parking is readily available on street or nearby in a free car park (24 hours).

Shops:-: Within a short walk there is a small village store selling basic essentials, including newspapers;and a bakery selling fresh produce. They are both open 7 days a week with the store opening until 8.00pm on Saturday. There are several eating places in Falkland, all within a few minutes walk including a Chinese Restaurant and takeaway .The Stag Inn and Lomond Arms do traditional meals. There is an Indian take-away in Freuchie (2.5 miles) and a fish and chip take-away in Auchtermuchty(3 miles)

For your Arrival:-: We provide free tea and coffee and milk. There are cooking ingredients (cooking oil, herbs, flour etc ) supplied free. Please help yourself to a whisky.

My wife and I spent a wonderful relaxing week in this delightful cottage in the beautiful village of Falkland. The amenities provided by Lorraine are first class making the property a real home from home but without the hurly burly of daily life. We were even encouraged to use all of the cooking ingredients so thoughtfully provided. As for the village itself; it has a good selection of tearooms and restaurants for such a small place making it a great place to eat out; there are three pubs supplying typical pub food; the local post office doubles as a mini market; there is also a small bakery; Falkland Palace with its beautiful gardens is also well worth a visit; the whole village is bedecked with floral displays in window boxes and hanging baskets as well as in an old farm cart.

With a fair amount of experience in letting self-catering properties throughout the UK over the past 14 years, we would nonetheless rate Braehead Cottage as one of the best properties we have rented. The cottage was immaculate, well-situated and offered plenty of amenities. The bedrooms, on the back side of the cottage, are cozy and quiet, with great views up East Lomond Hill. Walking both Lomond Hills then back to the village via the forest/beck path is a great half-day trip. The village of Falkland has plenty to offer, too--from the Palace (the grounds are beautiful) to the pubs. We would especially recommend the Stag, a short stroll away, especially on live music nights. We have already recommended Braehead to family and friends!
