We Love Jedburgh

Tweed Cottage was delightful. The view over Jedburgh was super, even though the path coming back up from the town was a real "buffer"! The car park was above the flat and there were many steep stairs to get down to Tweed Cottage. The steps were manageable, but I would like to have known about them before arriving.
The Cottage was clean, well equipped, and ready for us. The furnace, located right outside the bedroom, cycled every minute. We just turned it off at night.I think it needs attention. The hot water system was a puzzlement for us!We did manage..just.
The TV and DVD player worked well, the video player didn't work...take it away! We enjoyed the books and games. We brought the patio table inside under the window and worked jigsaw puzzles there.
In the kitchen I found most everything I needed. I loved the American drip/style coffee pot. Thanks for having it :) I think you need one larger kettle...a spaghetti or stew type pot. A family of 4 would have found cooking a challenge given the small size of the pots.
As we stayed a month, there needed to be a second set of sheets and duvet covers available.Without a washing machine,I made use of the local laundry...costing..19 pounds!
The instructions for trash disposal need to be clearer. We were able to use the recyle bins, but the trash bin at the bottom of the hill seemed to be locked. No one was ever around to ask.We used the bins of the houses above us for our trash, which wasn't exactly fair to them.
Jedburgh was well located for touring to the surrounding areas. We were able to travel in a different direction each day,and explored the Borders region very thoroughly...Jim Clark's Room at Duns,Kelso,Abbotsford,Berwick,Melrose, and many more places of history.
Having said that, I must say we enjoyed Jedburgh the most. People were friendly, restaurants good, and tourist center helpful. The Abbey, Mary's House, and the castle were all very interesting and well explained.
We loved the folks at J&J Davidson Butchers and Parlie's Fine Food Deli. The Computer store was a great help in getting our e-mail.The ladies at the library were friendly. You can see we really felt at home and enjoyed our stay very much. I'll not mention the rain and cold weather.
I would certainly recommend Tweed Cottage as a great place to stay while exploring the Borders region. It was a comfortable, relaxing month in pleasant surroundings.
Thank you, one and all, for your part in making our stay so enjoyable.
