What there is to see:
There is plenty of wildlife around. You may see the Pine Martins, which sometimes visit the bird table outside the front window on an evening (they like bread and jam). An otter has also been seen going up the burn next to the mill, as well as along Kinlochhourn and along the old Glen Garry road. Along this road you can often see herds of deer. There are also plenty of different birds, Siskins, Buzzards, and Woodpeckers etc.
Things to do within walking distance:
·Walk the circular route around Loch Lundie (approx 8 miles). This Loch is up behind the house.
·River walks on the river Garry.
·Great Glen Cycle path. One stretch, leading to Bridge of Oich (3 mile) and Fort Augustus (8 mile via the track) is next to the telephone box in the village. The other leading to Laggan Lochs (near Great Glen Water Park, 3 miles), can be accessed next to the Post Office.
·Ben Tee is a good walk and climb, for those who are fit. It is “a Corbett”, which you can see if you walk down to the little bridge in front of the house and look to the right towards Glen Garry.
·Local Pub-The Invergarry Hotel, serves bar meals-children are welcome up to about 8.00pm.
·Local Café open during summer months for snacks, meals, ices.
·Invergarry Castle Hotel- In beautiful setting and grounds, which include the old Invergarry Castle. Open for coffees, high teas and evening meals.
·Glengarry visitor centre, which gives a history of the village & the Highland clearances.
Within 10 miles:
·Fort Augustus village on the edge of Loch Ness (7 miles). Site of a series of canal lochs of the Caledonian Canal. Facilities inc; Tourist information centre, golf course, several eating-places, small supermarket, souvenir shops, the old Abbey, Boat which sight sees on Loch Ness.
·The Well of the seven heads (2/3 miles). Nearest general dealers situated on main A82 road at the side of Loch Oich. Also near picnic spot.
·The Great Glen water park (3 miles). Holiday complex, which has a small swimming pool and a childrens park. Various water/sports activities available here via “Monster Activities”, where you can arrange to white water raft (not for the faint hearted), canoe, kayak, hire bikes etc. You can also get food at the main park centre.
·Extensive walks around Fort Augustus, along the Glen Garry road & back down towards Fort William.
·The Tomdoun Hotel on the road to Kinlochhourn. Open for bar meals, drinks, coffee etc.. Fishing on local lochs can be arranged here.
