Photos and Description of this Scottish Borders holiday farmhouse 2 Large bedrooms plus study/bedroom, 1 bathroom, sleeps 6

Kirkhouse Farmhouse is surrounded by beautiful Scottish countryside only 20 miles from Edinburgh on the edge of the hamlet of Dolphinton - between West Linton, one of the most beautiful villages in Scotland - and Biggar, a small market town full of history and character. A large private garden leads directly onto the estate, which offers 300 acres of mixed woodland, heather hillside, wildlife habitat, picturesque streams and farmland grazing - a miniature of the Scottish Borders landscape. The farmhouse dates from the 19th Century and forms part of a working farm, built on the site of a Roman encampment.

Wonderful Week in September 09

Mikey and family Germany, Bremen
Review Submitted: October 6, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
Our family had a very nice stay one week in Kirkhouse cottage. The owners Deborah and Sam are very helpful and nice. The contact via internet for the booking was fast and all wishes fom us were accepted. On the farm is a brave dog and cat and from the cottage you see many sheeps, cows, horses. From the cottage its possible to walk over the next hill with good views on the land. In the cottage the living room and the kitchen are spacious and full equipped , also with playing games, many books... .The cottage have central heating and enough hot water .The cottage lays around 200m fom the next stret and is very qiet. From the cottage its possible to reach Edinburgh in 30 minutes and you can also go to Rosslyn chapel, new Lanark, Biggar .
We have enjoyed the week very much.
Sorry for my bad english

Kirkhouse Farmhouse

Bill V. Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada
Review Submitted: September 4, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
This property is one of the best self-catering units we have ever rented - and we have rented many in all parts of Europe and North America. It was better than we had expected - impeccably clean and comfortable. Close to Edinburg, to golf courses in the Borders and East Lothian. We enjoyed the casual elegance of the place, the wonderful large kitchen and the hospitality of our hosts, Sam and Debs, who answered all of our questions about the property and the region.
We thoroughly recommend Kirkhouse Farmhouse. Great Scottish hospitality and we hope to go back soon.

Comfort and relaxation in the Scottish Borders

Review Submitted: August 12, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
My family and I immensely enjoyed our stay in this beautiful, remote place - a 19th century cottage with mod cons (dishwasher, etc.) , very well equipped , clean and comfortable, with great attention to detail (e.g. curtains and matching cushions, etc.).
White Hill Estate, which Kirkhouse Cottage is a part of, provides excellent possibilities to roam around the countryside.
Sam and Deborah gave us a warm welcome and were always of service, their dog Tallis is a favourite with all guests.
The cottage - though away from it all - is just a 40-minutes drive from Edinburgh, about 10 minutes from Peebles, a busy market town on the River Tweed and about 50 minutes from St. Mary's Loch ( another place we would recommend ).
All in all, we would highly recommend Kirkhouse Cottage and hope to spend another happy week there in the not too distant future.

Wonderful rural getaway

Nic&Gregg County Durham
Review Submitted: July 22, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
We have just returned from a wonderful week staying in Kirkhouse and we were all sad to say goodbye. We were made to feel very at home and very welcome by the cottage owners - nothing was too much trouble. Our daughter is 21 months old and she loved exploring the enclosed garden and seeing all the animals on the farm. The cottage has everything you could wish for including amazing views and comfortable beds!

The cottage is only approximately half an hour from Edinburgh and was in a perfect location for visiting all that the area has to offer - Rosslyn Chapel, Edinburgh Zoo, New Lanark were all great places to visit (although Rosslyn Chapel was not really the place for a young child).

Our friends stayed with us overnight and they were also very impressed with the cottage and the estate. I would recommend this cottage to friends and family it was truly a magical place to stay.
