Gas central heating and entry phone system add to your comfort. Castle Terrace is only a minutes walk from the west end of Princes Street and as such has all the benefits of city centre living on the doorstep - numerous restaurants, bars, shops. Apartment below Edinburgh Castle!

This apartment is a wonderful choice for the family staying in Edinburgh! The partment is large, with two big bedrooms and two baths. The living room and dining area are nicely furnished and easily seat six people. The kitchen is modern and has everything you need including a washer dryer. The property is clean and well-maintained. The view of Edinburgh Castle can't be beat! While enjoying your meals, you look up at Edinburgh Castle - amazing! The location is great, especially for families with kids.

The apartment is centrally located and an easy walk to both modern downtown, Princes St. and the older sections of Edinburgh. Our kids (ages 3, 5 and 10) especially enjoyed walking over to Princes St. park everyday. The park is only a block away and is great. The playground is unique and there is food available during the day. There is also a major bus stop just a street away and it is easy to get taxis close to the apartment.

If you have more than two kids, just ask for a cot to be put in the second bedroom. The second bedroom is more than big enough and there was plenty of room for all three of my kids. There are two sofas in the living room too and one is big enough to sleep on if needed! The gas fireplace in the living room is easy to use and very nice. There are two aspects of the apartment that could be considered a negative. The apartment is on the fourth floor, so it was a bit hard lugging suitcases and groceries up and down the stairs. Also, one night the people in the apartment next door were noisey, but otherwise noise was not a problem.

There is a Farmer's Market right out in front of the apartment on Saturday mornings. That was a great place to get fresh breads, fruit, meats etc. We loved walking up and down Prince St. and found plenty of family style resturants to eat in. My kids also enjoyed the Build a Bear on Prince St. and going to McDonalds and Pizza Hut along with other more traditional Scottish resturants. We enjoyed the double decker bus tour of Edinburgh and liked walking through the old part of town. There are plenty of stores to buy small gifts to take home to friends. We also found the Scottish people to be very nice, friendly and helpful. Overall it was a wonderful experience. We would love to go back and would stay in exactly the same apartment again if we could!!

What a way to start a vacation! After traveling from the US, learning to drive on the "wrong" side of the road and simply finding our way from the airport, we were delighted to find the apartment even better than the photos indicate. Our family of six loved this apartment. I only wish we could have spent more time in Edinburgh. It is a fabulous city and this was a fabulous apartment. The only negatives would be having to pay to park the car and then having to drag the luggage up three flights of stairs. Once you are inside, though, these things are totally forgotten. While we had a great time in England I think my family would agree that Scotland is the place to be.

Great Birthday Weekend & ideal Location

We stayed in this apartment for a girlie weekend in July 2008.

The booking process was easy and trouble-free as was the check-in.

The apartment has amazing views of the castle and is ideally situated for everything!

The rooms are very comfortable and spacious and the lounge and kitchen areas are well-stocked for staying in, if you should want to. But it's Edinburgh and why would you want to stay in?!!

As we stayed at the weekend, we had to make sure that the car was not on the road on Saturday morning because of the local farmer's market across the way, but the NCP car-park across the road was fine as we just left the car there for the weekend and it didn't cost much and the car was safe. We could keep an eye on it from the apartment as we could park on the top open area.

Don't miss the great food from the farmer's market. You can have breakfast as you are walking through and fill up for your shopping trip as you make your way to the shopping area/attractions which are all within an easy 10 minute walk of the apartment.

The apartment is on the third floor so make sure you are comfortable with the climb of quite a few flights of stairs, as there is no lift, but this doesn't detract from the great location, views and service.

Well worth a try!
