Friendly, family run, holiday cottage, on our working farm, beside historic 15th century Castle Menzies, 2 miles West of Aberfeldy, Perthshire in the Scottish Highlands. A comfortable, traditionally stone built, centrally heated cottage. Renovated to a high standard, separate and secluded but easily accessible. Log fire available if desired. In the exact geographical centre of Scotland, - Loch Ness, Aberdeen, Oban, Edinburgh, Glasgow & Inverness all within 2hr drive. Book a safari to experience Scotland at heights of nearly 3000` with the chance of seeing Eagle, Deer, Arctic Hare, Red grouse. In Aberfeldy Distillery, ‘Dewar's World of Whisky’ tells the Dewar's Story learn the secrets of fine blended whisky. Golfers can chose from 4 local courses, 5 within 20 miles, St Andrews 1 hour.

Aberfeldy is our local small market town. It is the original old market town for Highland Perthshire serving a widely scattered rural population. It is the geographical Heart of Scotland, and an ideal centre for touring. Both Edinburgh and Glasgow are about one and a half hours drive away. The clan chieftains of Menzies, and Campbell, once ruled the area. But latterly families like the Wills of tobacco fame, Sir Donald Currie the shipping magnate, Nairns of the linoleum empire, have lived in the area, and now J K Rowlings of Harry Potter fame, has her holiday home at Killiechassie, 1 mile from Castle Menzies.

Golf: Locally, golfers can chose from the challenging 18 holes around the magnificent James Braid course at Taymouth Castle, the 18 hole layout at Aberfeldy by the Tay or the attractive 9 holes at Kenmore and Strathtay. Within a half-hour plus drive there are a further 5 splendid 18-hole golf courses; at Pitlochry, Crieff, Killin, Dunkeld and Blairgowrie (Rosemount). Gleneagles around 45 minutes and St Andrews just over one hour away via Dundee.

We have been coming up to Scotland for 25 years but never have we found such an enchanting and comfortable house as yours. North Wales.
What a lovely place to stay! It is such a comfortable house in such a lovely setting. A deer in the front garden and woodpeckers in the woods.
We’ll be back for Easter next year!’

Arranging accommodation on the internet is akin to buying a pig in a poke – but West Lodge has been a wonderful choice and more than fulfilled our expectations. It is beautifully appointed – bright, cheerful, warm (even in the snow!) and very pleasant with every comfort and convenience.
The situation is ideal for exploring this part of Scotland.

We always rent apartments and hotels and have been traveling Europe extensively for several years with our three young children. This house is the best-equipped property we have stayed in so far! We could have lived here a year and wanted for nothing. Apart from that, the house is gorgeous, super comfortable and located next to a Shetland pony AND a castle so the kids thought they had died and gone to heaven...and when THEY have a good time, we all have a good time...
Many thanks to the house owners, who answered all of my questions in advance and gave me some helpful information on where to go and what to see. Most appreciated.
I would thoroughly recommend this house to anyone with or without family.
